Just wanted to update you guys on my 5501. I put it up for sale shortly after getting it because the neck was much larger than the MusicMan basses I've been playing but after playing it for a few days, I now prefer it and the wider spacing.

With that being said, I know I have the lowest Lakland on the totem pole but gosh this bass is wonderful. It's an Indo made version and I'm big on USA made quality but this bass has great fit & finish. It's Achilles' hill is the electronics, but I plan on swapping those out. They aren't useless as some users complain about but they aren't the best either.

I'm sippin' the Lakland koolaid and loving it!

That is a great top botch quality bass that you have there! I have owned USA Joe Osbornes (4) USA Bob Glaubs (3) and about 10 other ones. I currently own the cheapest one the 44-01 and bought it because I wanted an all natural maple bass with soapbars as I prefer the tone. It is just as good as any bass that I have owned. As long as it says Lakland on the headstock you can never go wrong!

I've never owned a USA Lakland. I've owned USA Fender, EBMM, Warwick, Spector (Euro's), etc... and I feel that this bass is on par with most and better than some. The bass is a delight to play. It came from Michigan to Arkansas and has not needed one tweak to the action. It seems rock solid.

And the Tbird was part of that 3.
All 3 are gone and the 2 will be here soon.
This Firemist Decade was done by Pat at the Lakland Place.
It was not a refin...it was ordered new this way.

So I had a little bit of a religious experience when I borrowed GregC's JO with Chis to take to rehearsal the other day. I wanted to play something with those pickups in a band setting as I was considering modding my Glaub. I discovered a couple of things:

1. I realized I had never played a Jazz bass type instrument in a band setting before. I've played plenty of jazz basses, but never in a group. I totally get it now and why so many people prefer using jbasses.

2. Love those pickups

3. Love the feel of that bass, the ergonomics are better for me than the Glaub

So, I've decided I need a JO (44-60). I think GregC may end up selling the JO as he is more of a Pbass guy. So instead of modding the Glaub, I am going to sell it to help fund either Greg's or somebody else's JO.

I know I am a little late on this but this way everyone gets to see it again. I keep coming back to look at this. Just a great and unique looking bass.

Very nice.

A string short, mind you, but still very nice...:hiding:

It is a very cool and different bass.
The lipstick pups should be on more basses. These things really do kick tail. The pre amp in this wails too. Great tone variety.
All in all a super cool bass for a low price :bassist:
