I bought an acoustic a year and a half to 2 years ago and the brass strings on it were way too "clanky" for me....I wanted somehting zippy but not clanky...tried Chromes and REALLY liked them....however, over time, they have become mellow and have lost their zip...I do find myself plying the acoustinc quite a bit ....I played it 100% today in church and it did not seem to "come through" like it used to...maybe time for new strings...may do another set of Chromes...Maybe Sadowsky black labels...not sure....may want a little less tension as well....

yup and yup!!!

Well, I had a set of DR Black Beauties hanging around so I thought 'what the heck'... Definitely more of the sound that I'm used to, and the Black strings look good on the 3TB, too. I'll have to give the HB another try on stage next week...

Thanks The talkbass app doesnt seem to work when u try to upload pic directly. I had to upload to photobucket via iphone and use the image link button instead.

who owns what? the stompbox I tried was a prototype from Carl...Greg and Markus both had it for a while....not sure where it is now...

I've got it somewhere. I need to try it sometime. My Stingray Classic fits my current band so well that I never tried it out. It's about time to revamp my pedal layout, maybe I'll stick it at the front end.

Right now I'm using GHS Precision flats. They sound great with the acoustic band but do limit the range of tones somewhat. The orignal D'Addario Pro Steel stainless rounds were too zingy for me, and the DR Black Beauties just felt too sticky. (I've tried to like those; is it just me)? Next up to try are my usual favorite DR Sunbeams or the GHS Pressurewounds, which I am digging on a different bass.

I love Dunlop Nickels too.

I agree with you. Strings are the first "mod" a guy can do to get a different tone out of a bass. I've had basses that I couldn't stand the tone of and put a different set of strings on them and instantly love the tone. Then again, I've put my favorite set of strings on a bass before and found they just didn't work with that bass.

Also, MESA good.

I've had the same happen to me. Hate to love for 40 bucks

The Jeanie pickguards are pretty expensive for these. Pretty sure there is a $25 surcharge on top of the regular price.
