All - thanks for the great help and notes! I've decided I'll be waiting for the next Lakland 55-02 to popup at a good price (& color) as it sounds unanimously worth the extra price for the sound.

Appreciate the warm welcome and help and I look forward to officially joining the 'Lakland Owners group' :D :bassist:

I play almost exclusively modern worship songs and a Lakie 5er is REALLY GREAT for that venue...the tight B string allows you to get real clarity and thump....allowing you to play those really LOW Ds etc AND be heard...

also - you can cover some of the great low organ notes.

for $900 you SHOULD be able to find a used 55-02 which will alloow you to "switch' on the fly between a J, P, MM and other unique bass sounds....

I think a Lakie is a GREAT choice for you (coming from a fellow W&P player)!

Okay so I bought a lakey 4-07 (or 4-94CS?.. meh I guess it's all the same lol) off a fellow tb'er and it finally arrived in NZ today.. and.. well.. I am quietly humbled by how amazing dan's work is. See, the bass I got is a natural flame maple, normally not my cup of tea cause I like the finish to be a bit more colourful.. but hey I figured, the 07 had all the specs I was looking for so I took a gamble.. and boy did it pay off.. because under the deceptively 'plain' finish lies an absolute tone monster.. this is the first bass I have had which actually reacts properly to subtle eq adjustments.. and those dip switches are amazing! couple of clicks here, mid range adjust there and we can go from a bright sounding jazz to a snarly stingray.. and the chi's blew me away, first bass my neighbours actually complained about lol.. they have forced me to run in single coil mode cause it's too loud in bucker lol.. not that I mind that single sounds sooo nice anyway hehe.. and those dots! the birdseye is so classy! if anyone asks me if it's worth shelling out for the usa.. well just look at the neck!.. YES!.. not to mention the feeeeel of it, so thin and smooth in the hand.. omg sooo happy :hyper: this has finally ended my gear search, no more trading and selling bass after bass to find the perfect one.. meh, I'll get the lakey refinished later on.. but for now.. who cares.. at least it won't get stolen lol.. until they hear it LOL.. besides, under the light that curly maple flame is starting to look like russian fudge.. mmmm.. fudge :smug:

hi guys,i had a 55-01 a year ago then i sold it and then i became sorry for it :(
anyway..i saw 44-51 on the web page and i fall in love with it :D can i take any comments about it? i intereset with skyline model,anyone tried? can u help me? !!

I know I LOVE mine!!
A keeper for life I would say.
These basses will for sure piss off neighbors...A FEW BLOCKS AWAY!! hahahahah!! :D :bassist:

Hey they took my gold hollowbody???? hahahah!!
That pickguard looks pretty cool on the gold...
I think since mine has darkstars I will leave it nekkid though.
The dstars are the star of the bass, no need for a pickguard taking the eye to it.

Looks like they got a good spot on the floor as well, along the outside perimeter without being shoved up against the wall. Arg! I've worked to many trade shows in my time.

I want Geezer's bass! Fretless with a black pg of course.

I can see it now, with the booths in the middle wondering why people are rushing past them to get to the Lakland booth because the foot traffic on the race track around the perimeter has stopped moving.
