OK, stop me if this has been covered but I am just curious. When you have the option for stringing through the body or just through the bridge alone which do you and is there any noticeable, audible difference either way?

I think there is a slight more sustaine through the body...

Anyone tried DiMarzio Model P (DP122) in their Glaub/Dunn?

I'm gonna install a John East P-retro in my BG, and haven't decided if I should leave the Hanson Vintage pup or put in an '70s Model P?

Still haven't gotten around to take my own pics of the bass, so here's another one from one of the former owners:

let us know how you like the East pre-amp....I have been htinking of one for my LOG bass (Hanson vintage Pickup as well)...

I've been remiss in not keeping caught up with my Lakland comings and goings. This is the keeper. Its a 2011 USA Glaub custom ordered P/J with the in-between neck width -- in-between the J and P width. This guy was custom ordered for a country artist to use on the 2011 CMA awards show, didn't arrive in time, and was sold by the dealer. I am the second owner. I'm not a huge black bass fan and did have to change out the original black pick guard for this red tort. She looks classy, now.

Cool ... but one with an obvious Lakland headstock would be even cooler (and probably not hard to knock up as a design and then put onto cafe press).

Hey - stupid Lakland question. Adjusting the truss rod. The darn allen wrench tool provided doesn't really fit into the slot on the pick guard. User error?

I would email [email protected] or [email protected] to make sure you have the right size....

I'm very glad that trans-white JO sold so quickly for you--so that I don't have to worry about obsessing over it!

I stripped the finish off of the back of the neck on my Skyline and am in the process of applying a tung oil finish. It is turning out great and is not at all visually different from the satin finish that is already on (I left it on the front and back of the headstock). Next up I am going to start the long journey of adding the Hipshot HB1 tuners.

Perfect!!! My favorite Pbass combo of all time! I was lucky enough to grab my black BG a couple of years ago here on TB. It's become my favorite bass!!! Congrats on that PJ.

If you don't mind my asking - what kind of seminars do you teach? I sometimes teach for a professional organization when my work schedule permits, too.

I'm going to give the cliche response: "Oh...if it was only a 5 string!" (and, for affordability, a Skyline!). This it EXACTLY the Glaub/P-bass variant I want - Black, Rosewood, Tort...and the kicker P/J mod. That is a fantastic bass.

If you can afford it then I would jump on it. That is a ridiculous deal that I wish I had cash for. A US JO for close to the same price as a Skyline.

Matt, it was a pleasure meeting you at the Crossroads Saturday night! I know you were struggling with the house sound for the 1st song or 2, but once sorted out, your rig sounded great! (I have a Berg HD112 myself, and love it!) And your wife on the cello really added a cool dimension to the band.

BTW, since this is the LOG thread, here's an obligatory pic of my 44-02, which was traded in & then purchased back by me.

While trying to install the P-retro I've already encountered the first problem. How do I remove the control knobs on the BG? It looks like I need some sort of allen/umbraco key, but which? I've tried all I have, but no one fits.

If it's a SkyLine, then it is probably a metric allen wrench (if your knobs do indeed have allen screws holding them in). The silver knobs I got for my -02 (similar to the ones you see on basspraiser's and macribas' Laklands) use a set screw, but I can't remember if those aftermarket knobs are metric or english measures.

It's not jazz-style, but a Bob Glaub.

Anyway, I found a "smart" way to do it. The smallest allen key I had with some ordinary household tape on the tip made the allen key just the right size.
