Hey, the cool part is it was originally created by a Lakland guy. A labor of love by that person and now even more work/love has gone into it. The legacy lives on!

I think the purpleheart slab used for the pickguard and control cover really make the bass' look work. Plastic just wouldn't work at all.

Rusty screws, dried sweat, and the crack (Carl glued it for me) in the pickguard just add more personality.

Now Gordon will be rocking Sexual Chocolates original old Bart pups n pre in the 55-02 fretless that's on it's way to him.

The -07 refers to the year the CHIS were conceptualized...just like the other Lakland specific basses:

-94 = year these basses were developed
-02 = year of the first skyline versions
Decade = developed in 10th year of company

so..Gordon is kinda getting SCs wrappers? I would take those discards!

I like it! 2-way toggles between single coil (meh) and humbucker (THUNDEROUS), it's never in single coil mode.

Ah ha! The numbers make a bit more sense to me now! So, does that mean the 44-60 was modeled after a 1960 Jazz Bass, and the 44-64 after a '64 Precision?

BTW, I feel compelled to tell you all that I put some D'addario Chromes on my Duck Dunn, and the bass sounds so good now that even my mistakes sound hip! ;)

Yep! Joe Osborn's J is a '60, and Bob Glaub's P is a '64, and the rare single-bucker Lakland is a 4-76.

and the -76 was modeled after a 76 MM....etc.

nice! I can see where chromes would sound hot on a DD!

I have chromes on my Kelly Dragonfly and love them on that bass...time fro a new set though...losing their "zing"....I am a "zing" guy....which is why I dis-like most flat wounds...
