Checked it out on the LOG.
Great looking stuff man.
I Would love one of those.
Really looking forward to seeing Black Bart's real life Lakland stealth C word creation :D

Actually, I have two stealthy beauties in the works. A black and maple 4-94 and a surprise, yes it's black, but that's all I'm saying. :hiding:

Thanks man! So I see that :ninja: !

Sup Lakland owners, I'm considering becoming one soon, looking at a DJ5. Very important question: How are the necks? The biggest problem I had with Fender five strings were the necks were very thick. Are the Laks thinner?

Thanks Doude! I'm going to be a financial rep with Northwestern Mutual in southern new jersey and Philly. It's a great job... I get to help people i know and consequently meet achieve their financial goals... and i get to make a living doing it.

Very excited for the opportunity :D

congrats!!!! major!

sounds great...care to help a poor schlep in the midwest!? I try to plan but the financial part seems to do its own thing...i.e. lose my money! :)

Yep I'm in oil and gas. I'm going to route my flight back through Paris and have a layover there, for a couple of days. I wanna see if I cam find a French woman that has a Lakland....

Pizza Papalis I'm Detroit is actually Chicago style, better than Ginos East IMO.

The pizza

hmmm..."better" than Ginos? do they deliver to Chi-town (frozen?) gotta see....

I have high pizza standards...

I ma SURE you can find a lady in paris who "says" she owns a Lakland but it may cost you to spend time with her... :ninja::hiding:

seriously...never been there...been to France twice though..someday! I hear it is nice...

EDIT: Gordon beat me to it, but I didn't read everything first. :sigh: MY luck.

Tat - that is called the "Lakland time machine"...where you post about somehting that has already been answered...I tkae the ride in the time machine ALOT!!! fun at times! really...it is...and the more you ride, the cheaper it gets...

My buddy bought that US Darryl Jones natural fretless with Chi-sonics that was in the classifieds recently. We plugged it through my Aguilar AG500 and GS112. Want an unbelievable bass and an amazing sound. It plays like butter too.

nice...yup..one GREAT bass....never got to play it but saw all of the parts (as parts)...that is one nice bass!

tell him congrats for us! ...also - he needs to post here now...

Not intentional. I tend to respond as I read usually since my brain is aged and forgetful. By the time I get through two or three pages, I could totally forget what I wanted to say. ;)

huh? now...WHAT was I posting about? BTW - tried "Angel's Envy"....yummy....now where was I?

Just ordered a 55-02 Deluxe in the Quilted Natural finish. After playing a
55-01 and getting that low B punch, I had to order one. Traded in the
MM Sterling 5 HS. I can't wait.

congrats! saw that on the LOG!

REALLY nice......:hyper::D

Nice! Gotta love that Burgundy Mist!

yupper.....one day....(amongst many other colors) a B. Mist will be mine...

This may seem like a stupid question, but is it possible to replace the mk-1 preamp with a LH3. If it is, then I think that is the route that I am gonna go.. sick of my buzzing preamp.

yup......should be easy switch....noisy? are you sure there is not a lose ground or other wire?

I would switch for the sound variability alone though...

Have you checked all of the ground connections? I'm only saying this because my mk1 is silent... just like my lh-3.

That being said, I seem to recall some incompatibilities with the barts in an -01 and the lh-3 (Doude, help me out with this one...) most common mod is a mk5 pre for the -01.

Before you sink good money into it, have a local luthier check the connections for inconsistent solder joints.

I agree on the last part but SHOULD not be a problem to switch though

Well, I got a reply from both Lakland and Dan's Guitars. New stock
should be about a week to get into the factory, a week or so to
get Plek'd and set up, then shipped after that. Well, the order is
in so now I'm biting my nails until it comes in. What I cannot believe
is how comfortable the 35" scale neck is to play. Not really much of
an adjustment from the 34". Plus, the extra string spacing at 19mm
versus my MM at 17.5mm is just perfect. Plus with all of the tone
flexibility in the preamp, this thing is going to rock.

yup...VERY comfy bass...love the neck profile!

Yes it is, and it does not cost you an arm and a leg. Do it!

what he said!

Not the best shot...lighting a little weird and out of focus a little:-(

still stellar...even though smaller than in the past!

also...losing a little of the "rainbow effect"...still ...stellar!

BTW...."3 balls"...:eyebrow:

Very impressive lineup there. What, no 5 string? LOL

nope...he keeps trying them but no go...he turned that B off many years ago and never really went back...

Agreed.

LOG! Looking for some help, the drop-dead 55-07(may have it wrong) in Ice Blue on the classifieds has got me thinking. I have the $$, but I've never played a USA Lakland and don't know much about Lakland in general. First off, would you guys hunt me down for stringing a Lakland E-C? Second, what are the general characteristics of the sound that you can get from the 55-07 with the Chi's? I've only tried the Hollowbody with the CHi's and I imagine that it'll be infinitely different do to the preamp and the body construction. Any and all comparison and advice helps!

Best regards,

Brooks

That is one of the hottest basses around!

I have a 55-07 and all I can say is ground shattering and ballsy...

These are humbuckers and have a huge tonal range....very well rounded and gutsy...if that makes sense...

I have played this exact bass and can tell you that the fit, finish and feel are all fantastic....

never thought about a E-C stringing but do not think that would be an issue....should sound GREAT!

do it...you will not be dissapointed...

Yeah, Markus' collection is beautiful!

I especially like his custom sparkley Decade w/ the repositioned (closer to the bridge) neck pickup. And the MOJO which will someday be mine ;).

Really???? dream on...

Yes! Very well put together tone toolbox!

100% agreed! alot of tonal variation there...with his "other" basses he has thousands of miles of ground covered!

Thanks! Oh MOJO will be yours? Hmmmm....would have to be a hell of a deal to get that one!

as I said above....:p:D

Sup Lakland owners, I'm considering becoming one soon, looking at a DJ5. Very important question: How are the necks? The biggest problem I had with Fender five strings were the necks were very thick. Are the Laks thinner?

.....and very comfy!

I have played several Fender 5ers and find the Lakie necks much quicker and easier to play!

I think I ride on that time machine a LOT. :D

And as much as I try not to say, "I told you so," about anything. Where Angel's Envy is concerned....I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!

It was a superior weekend this weekend. I got to see Roger Waters - The Wall - live last night. EPIC.
