Wow. I love eBay (sometimes). For months I have been watching a brand new red/maple, passive 55-94 (vol/vol/tone with Chisonics). It had been listed at 3300 but occasionally went down to 2750. It's the exact bass I am looking for except for body color. I called and got the weight (under 9 lbs-check) and they said it was their last USA Lakland and they were only carrying Skylines going forward. I offered 2500 and they said they could not sell for under 3300 and the eBay price of 2750 was an error. I kept watching....back and 4th between 2750 and 3300 until......2200 and now listed as a display model. I bid the 2200 but didn't hang around for the last few hours of the auction and it sold to someone else for 2375........until my 2nd offer came through this am for 2200 :-) SOLD. I can't wait! At that price, even if I have it repainted (not sure I will) by local master Michel Fournel, it's still a bargoon. Sonic blue/white 'guard would really be the ticket....

Very cool! Now don't forget to post pictures at the Maternity Ward at Link Removed!

Patience has benefits

Yup. I was looking to replace the orange P5 (loved the tone and optics but the body shape and 9.5 wt weren't for me) and thought about the blue 5507 in the TB classifieds; that one's an amazing deal but it's also over 9 lbs and active, and has a rosewood board (I prefer maple). In the end the planets aligned on this one for me. If I don't bond with the red color I'll think about a sonic blue facelift in the fall. Pics next week when I get her...

I had a question, I see on a lot of For Sale threads for JO's or BG's that people want to know "if it has a Fralin Pickup." Are there any guidelines for what years had the Fralin pickups and when there was a switch to something else?
Lakland used various pickups from many manufacturers during its 14 some-odd years, before their sister organization, Hanson pickups started making in-house pickups and pre-amps exclusively. Some people really dig the Fralins, and I agree they are very vintage sounding, if that's what you're after. The move to inhouse pickups phased in from roughly 2006-2008, depending on the model. I'm by no means a Lakland historian.

Early JOs can be found with Aeros, and maybe Lindy Fralins (not sure on that last one)
Early BGs and DDs can be found with Lindy Fralin vintage pickups or occasionally Darkstar pickups.
Early 4-94/44-02s have Bartolini pups and pre's
Early Decades have Bartolinis, Darkstars

Of course, you will find many mods out there with all sorts of stuff in the wild.

Others here probably know the more intricate details, and can correct any errors. This is what I have gleaned from hanging out here for a while.
I've been around Lakland for a good while now and I'm blessed/cursed with a good memory for minutiae, so here goes.

On the JO and DJ, the pickup switch occurred from late '06 to early '07. I recall Doug picking up a Skyline DJ in March 2007 (in a snowstorm!) and it had Hanson pups. Previously, DJs came stock with Aeros and JOs with Fralins.

The P pickup transition took place sometime between early '07 and early '08. Fralins before, Hansons ever since.

The 94/02 transition took place first, I believe, sometime in 2006.

Never seen a Decade come stock with Barts, I believe they were designed with Dark Stars in mind.

This kind of question should definitely be included in the FAQ on the new LOG site, when it launches.
Duly noted! That's a great idea. Maybe we can get more precise dates from JP and Bo.

That's a great great score! Wait till you see that CAR (I assume it's CAR) in person, it might change your mind. I love Lakland's take on it.

Is there a visual way to see which pickups are installed in a Glaub or an Osborn?

Man that is beautiful. I am a somewhat new Lakland Owner, as bouth my 55-94 in April of this year. I am already plotting out my next Lakie, and someting similar tho this (different color) is sparing my interest.

and welcome to the fun. I like your bass, yes, I like it very much.

Thanks, plays as good as it looks.

Not sure you know all of your options here:
If you want a new stock MII Skyline DJ4, you can get LPB or metallic grey, the new Skyline DJ5s come in white or metallic grey. If you want any other colors than those, you are talking a USA, and you can get almost any color for a USA ordered from a dealer.

Of course you can find other finishes from the last go-round of the DJs out there in the bass-o-sphere.

Just a drive by to say hellooooooo to fellow Laklandites.
Hope the weekend is treating you well :D

helooooo there danny boy!

nice of you to drop by!

Not usually on even a Skyline, usually even the overseas Skylines are around the $750-1k range. USA ones are double that, basically. I think the bassist for the Foo's has a Bob Glaub type model, great bass and if you find one for $300 range, grab it. Best of luck!

a Skyline BG used is around $800-$1000..US model $1600 to $2000 (used)
