:hyper::hyper::hyper: CONGRATS BART! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Looking good my friend.
Psyched to see additional pics of the beastie. :bassist:

The Lakness Monster has arrived!!!

Sorry for the lousy shots, got a little late in the day by the time I could put it down long enough to take a couple of photos. More will come when I can catch the light better.

Thanks Dan, can't believe how light this thing is, bathroom scale says 8lbs, but feels lighter. Neck is excellent, fit and finish are awesome. The guys at the shop really out did themselves with their attention to detail in following my request to black everything out: including the washers on the neck bolts and string ferrules. I might even just keep the knobs as they are!

Great news man!
Happy for you and the new baby!
Hope to land out west one day and try her out. :bassist:

Excellent, Brian! I knew the crew would knock it out of the park, glad you're digging it so much. Love the sunlight pics, they really show off the finish.

You must, you must :)

Kinetic, that rocks. Congratulations. Stop posting, eating, sleeping and just play it for the next 24 hours! :)

Thanks Woody. Sorry, :hiding: just had to post one more to respond to all the posts.

Excellent, Brian! I knew the crew would knock it out of the park, glad you're digging it so much. Love the sunlight pics, they really show off the finish.

It's quite the finish, Pat really pulled this one off. It's nice and Black Bart dark in average lighting, but once the sun hits it, purple hues comes out. The grain is amazing as well on the single piece of swamp ash.

Super awesome Brian!!! Love it! Those guys have been making some stellar basses these days!

Agreed, left Leo a message and told him to thank the crew profusely for me - they really listened to what I wanted and made it happen. Thanks again Lakland!

Indeed!!!

keep the knobs!

Just think I might

As promised, here's a couple more photos of the Lakness Monster.

I didn't want to crowd this thread with too many photos, so head on over to the Link Removed to see the full spread.

I bought a Skyline 55-60 Custom over a year ago, but haven't got the time to use it much. But during the summer this year I did...
What a fantastic instrument!!! Great sound with a unbelievable B-string:D

Here's some photos from when I played with the band Work of Art, support act to TOTO in Sweden a couple of weeks ago.

Hi everybody, in the last 7-8 years I´ve changed a lot of basses, 4 and 5 string mainly, two of those were Lakland 55-02 and after I tried all those which to me seemed appling to my taste in terms of sound and shape I bought myself the third Lakland 55-02.
This one is a sunburst-maple with Bartolini pickups and preamp, one of those made in Korea (3.9 Kg) , and I know now one thing: this bass is gonna stay! :)
The sound of this bass through my A.T.S. bass head and 4x10" cabinet is indeed the sound I had in my head for a long time.
In this video you can hear what I´m talking about:

GREAT choice!!!!

nice playing.....take care...

Doude

Looking to upgrade the plastic nut on my 4401 and 5501, what's everybody using for that? Graph Tech? Does anybody make brass nuts for them?

Carl Pedigo recommneds Bone.....and I tend to listen when he speaks....

Whoaaaaaaaaa!! That is one Baaaaaaaaaad Lakie Barty ole boy!
Congrats my friend :D :bassist:

yup....It is! even nicer in person....

ammmmmmayyyyzazazing! Looking forward to more pics!

it sure is!!!:bassist:

Thanks :)
Indeed she does!

im thinking of getting a clear pickguard made for it. Yay or nay?

I guess I am the ONLY guy here to say YEAH!

One vote for nay! Unless you put something totally cool under it, and change it out from time to time.

I like the "change out" periodically idea....for cvariety...but clear is cool...shows more of the cool quilting...

Markus and I agree.

/thread.

wow.....it is getting cold in hell...really fast! ;):smug:

Here's the new 44 64; the neck is done like a 44 64 custom (minus the colored headstock) but is a P neck...perfect for me.

VERY NICE!!!!! love the lakie P0-neck...very comfy!!!!

looks great!

Fantabulous looking bass.

huh?????...he said "the word".....and NO reaction? are you feeling OK?

It's a family!

I've decided against a black guard on the 44-94, so if anyone wants a black Jeannie's guard cheap, let me know. It's modelled like the 55-69 guard.

Laklands.gif

sweet family shot!

glad you decided against the pick guard....

Ok, thanks. I feel the same way now. After all, the bass is in perfect condition and plays outstanding.

there ya go.....

Production year should have been disclosed, at least on the invoice, but as Roadkill mentioned, it really is a non-issue.

I agree...and agree....

Seriously considering letting go of my drop dead gorgeous one off US Decade.
It is the only one in "Firemist Gold".
A custom color designed by Pat Wilkins and the original owner Ian Allison.
Single coil chi sonics/ passive.....
Just play my other Laklands a bit more and am thinking 4 USA Laklands for a non gigging kinda guy is a bit excessive. LOL

Stay tuned, Will give LOG doodes first dibs if it does become available :D

Dan - really!? man....i thought this was a "keeper"....:(

Certainly a group I need to be a member of. I'm also hoping I can find the exact DJ5 in a black/maple combination.
whdj5.jpg

theya re out there....but you may have to order a pickguard yourself....keep your eyes on the classifieds...

I think a decade is the only model I haven't tried/owned yet. must resist mind control ray.

I have not owned one either...the mind ray is reaching this way but it is not "too strong" for me to resist.....at least not yet.... :)

Nope, not going to get me down to 9.
LOL
Time will tell, have someone already saying they want it.
But honestly.... seriously on the fence IF I want to part with it.
Will NEVER find another like it. :hmm:

nope...you will not.....think LONG and hard my friend....long and hard....

But that's what's so cool about US Laklands...You can order anything you want. I bet I could find another one like it is I ordered one;-) But it's a custom shop...If I want a P bass in baby poop brown...I can order it!

yeah - but Dan is cheap (ahhhh...I mean fruggle....yeah yeah...fruggle)

ummmm yea sure ya can order it if you want to plunk mucho $$$ for it and wait 3 months or so.
I am talking about finding one mint on the used market for under $2,300.00.
Not gunna happen bro :)

Baby Poop Brown huh? hmmmmm? With sparkles? LMAO

...see???? I told ya...fruggle...

Yep! MST (Markus Sparkle Turd) Named by the guys here on this thread! So many nay sayers...

Looks good on "the" floor Markus....

Nah, I would call that Markus Sparkle-Tastic!

LOL!!! &^% kisser...

truly beautiful!
looks ummmm "C"ustom :ninja:

ruh row!!! "that word"....

'C'ustom? So cruel. That bass looks nice enough to be straight-'A' ustom.

That made no sense. I need to go to bed. Like, now.

...sounds like time for bed.....was that an Elk/scotch fueled post??

:D
played it last night, not the best thing to do when you are considering selling something. LOL

Man Lakland USA surrrrre knows how to make one ^%$#@ amayyyyzing bass! :bassist:

DUH!!!!! :atoz:

they sure do!!!!

so...are you keeping it???

The answer is clear, Dan. Sell one of those other brands.:D

...sounds logical to me Captain......

Would have bet the house ya would have that response...LOL
"Other brands" indeed.

Must admit the US Laklands have a neck that feels like no other.
Like silk! :bassist:

yup....and the Lakness Monster's neck is no exception.....silky smooth...

How do I join the Lakland owners group? I have a 55-94 deluxe in tealburst that is my #1 bass, so I'd like to represent! :)

ahh....one issue...we need PICS!!!

So true. I have not found a neck that is as smooth and with this high quality of fretwork.

yep, amazing necks indeed.
My 44-07 and my US Scheff have the best necks I have ever played.
With the US HB and US decade running in close 2nd :)[/QUOTE]

that SCHEFF DOES have a GREAT neck....too bad I "have to have" fivers...

The LOG site needs an app like TalkBass has. I would imagine if it simple to do, it would have been done already? Is there anything we could do to help make it happen? I know I would spend more time there. Sorry if this has been discussed before.

...in the works....we have the softeware but the migration is taking longer than anticiapated because of what Gary said..volunteers....time is precious...
