must you torture me so?????

darn you all to heck!!!!

that bass is gorgeous....too bad the neck is too narrow for me.....someday -someday!!! maybe I will get a fiver version...but I doubt it will have the same character....

you forget..Markus had it for a short while....

this is one of 3 basses I went after more than once...one of the others is now in GregC's hand and the other I know own (the black 5576).....

ooops, not meaning to torture ya Doude.

Just was inspired.

Have a 5 bass stand...always keep 5 on it.
Try to do a monthly rotation so all 10 get their due playtime love.

But the Scheff and the HB have been in solitary for a few months in their cases.
Which actually is pretty cool.

Because when ya take them out it is like NBD all over again for them.
The love affair begins all over again :D :D :D

So would I! In fact, I just did...should be hear in a few days. I swear, I have issues with selling and buying DJ's. This will be my 8th one. I don't know why I ever sell them, but I do, and then 6 months later I remind myself how stupid I am. The DJ and 55-02 are the only basses I've sold and repurchased over and over again. :help:
Lol! Jason, you know the definition of insanity, right?

nope...I mean (my wife says) I have too many....8 Lakies and 2 non-Lakies (an acoustic and a semi-acoustic fretless)....
All good and understood. I'm becoming quite obsessed with Lakies, so I very well might be headed down the same path you're on.

Just ordered a set of D'Addario Chromes for the DJ5. I've got those strings on my 55-02, '71 P Bass, and '78 Jazz Bass. They rock!

Happy Saturday, everybody. Spent my day ripping out carpet and prepping to paint, but had to get out for a little while tonight for a drink. Look what I found at my local watering hole.

EDIT: since my app died and I can't get the pic to post I'll have to put up that purty blue Lakland I found onstage after I get home.

Okey dokey - here we go.

From last night - and he's a TBer, but not a LOG member (and couldn't remember his TB name when we were talking). Had awesome nice things to say about his Lakland baby.

darn it!!!

I cannot wait to see the picture!!!

Also - awaiting pics of the GTG on the LOG site.... :hmm:

what room are you doing now??? I thought the studio is done.....did you have the paint expert help tear out the carpet or is he "no good" at that?? :smug::eyebrow:

Here's the album link to my LOG GTG pics. Enjoy!!

I'm working on my living room now. Getting rid of the ancient carpet and putting in tile. The "paint expert" probably would have helped me if I'd have asked, but I didn't. I have a method for my remodels and typically don't like other people underfoot while I'm working (it's a small house). Although - for the laying tile part and painting the outside, I'm probably going to solicit volunteers. They'll get paid in beer, pizza, and I might even let them touch some of my basses after they've cleaned up. :D

Oh - and I decided to pull the trigger on that hollow body. Pics of the new baby that hasn't arrived yet.....

My HB arrived to me wearing flats.
Being I am not much of a fan of flats, I played it with them for a few weeks and then ordered some DR nickle low riders for it.
Like the way the hollowbody tone...dark stars and low riders all bring it together to my ear...

More baaaad AS^%$sed and snotty.
Not as "thumpy"...
Which I like personally :)

I keep telling you...promise me you will buy it in a year and I will buy it now....and hold it for you...

...there will just be an itty bitty little "handlng fee"....:smug:

The first time you made that offer I started looking over my bank account. This time I did the same because I'd love to take you off-guard by saying 'okay, let's do it.' But a really near miss involving my little girl and an assjacket who blew a red last week has me rethinking a *lot* of stuff.

As in, I think it's time for me to stop thinking about all the stuff I've been talking about and start doing some of it, so that she can never say that her dad was just a ball of unloved drems. So, though its been my habit to use my st Patrick's gigging $ to buy something bass related, I'm going to take a break from the big-ticket bass stuff next year and get a new camera so I can start using this film degree I'm currently wasting.

But believe me, that orange beast is utterly haunting to me.

Definitely something to consider. Thanks for the info. I'm not sure I'm allowed to describe the sound I like here in the open forum for fear of inciting a riot, but I don't think snotty would fall into its adjectives. ;)

Well snotty and snarly is about how I would describe it.
The darkstars living in the HB environment is pretty much like that wearing rounds.
Boost the gain on the Mesa MPulse600 and the two Mesa PH412 cabs and it will raise the dead. :D

Gets some amazing usable feedback, I love it a ton! :bassist::hyper:

sorry charlie :hiding:
;-)

Nice JO and action pics!

+1

Thanks! From what I've heard about their sound - I'm probably gonna restring her with flats as soon as she arrives. Haven't played with flats much, so not sure what to try first, although I've heard raves on both LaBella's and TI's.

Nice!!! I like rounds on HB more then flats. I have Bootseys on there now, and love them!

I guess I'll be trying a few kinds of strings and things then. :D Thanks for the input, guys.

On another note, our band is hitting an open mic on Thursday night to work out a few bugs before Saturday's "first official gig." I'm excited and nervous - but I'll have my trusty Lakland between me and the crowd, so that's a good thing, yes?

Ooh, first gig, that's exciting stuff! Congrats, Tat. The open mic sounds like a good idea, you'll be a little less nervous for the Saturday show. My advice: Don't eat too much prior to the show, and have a little liquid courage beforehand to take the edge off--but only a little!:D
