Doug, that look fantastic!!! I'm usually not a fan of black/stealth basses at all, but that one actually makes me want it. Dibs when you decide to sell!
I called dibs when I touched it in Chicago. But I'm kinda nice. I could let you visit occasionally and stare longingly at her through the french doors to the music room.
You could always call her Black Dahlia or Carbon Black or my personal favorite - Hecate (countdown to see who knows the source)

That's hot! I'm on the hunt for a 9lb or less DJ5. I had a white one just under 10lb that I regret ever letting go.

Essentially, we don't practise. When we're learning a new song, the guitarist will record his part and vox, then well add our parts to the recording and play to that. The first time we play it together is invariably in front of an audience. Uh... This is where the benefits of playing together for a decade come into play.

Boys of the Lough are, if anything, even *more* straight-trad than the Chieftains. I generally prefer Celt-rock bands, but there's a real appeal to the bands that keep it old-school.

Same here. That's the way our old site did it as well, but that info's too important to be buried away like that. A lot if bands are doing it this way nowadays. Of course, now it's obvious that we've entered a one-pub gigging schedule for the next while...

I'm all Photoshop and text, the fiddler's all about code and Dreamweaver. It took forever due to gigging/real life/families, but were pretty happy. Still unsure about the links colour and the white background, though...
They can be found! You just have to have a little patience sometimes. I called around for a while on my last one, and finally Bass Central had a white DJ5 at 8.5 lbs. This silver one I also bought from Bass Central, but I just lucked out as they were the first place I called. They had two in stock, and the other one came in at 10 lbs, which isn't too bad really, but 8.5 lbs feels stupid light to me. I love it because I frequently have long rehearsals and suffer from chronic muscle tension in one shoulder when I wear a bass for very long. The difference in 8.5 vs. 10 lbs is huge for me. At 8.5, I can usually go for 2-3 hours very easily with no pain at all. At 10 lbs, my shoulder muscles start throbbing after an hour or so.
Anyway, if you want to find one, just start calling the major stores. I've probably bought 6 or 7 Laklands from Bass Central alone...all of them have been light. When they didn't have a light one in, they've called Lakland and had them pick the lightest one in production and had it drop shipped directly to me when it was finished. It's just another reason to love Lakland IMO!
I'm with you on the weight issue. My 55-02 weighs 9lbs and my SR5 is 9.3lbs. Life is too short for heavy basses.
When I'm ready to pull the trigger, I'll give Beaver and the boys a shout.

When I first got this, it had a maple neck.
I sent it to Carl who did the following:
put on an maple neck with a fretted ebony fretboard
painted the headstock flat black
stained the back of the neck with black. I originally wanted the neck solid black like the body and neck but Carl wanted to maintain the "GREAT" Lakland neck feel so he stained it as you see here...it took him several trys to "get it right".
Installed glow in the dark side markers
Added a "rare" white "Lakland" with white surround
this bass looks and sounds incredible!
The ebony board is an excellent macth for the MM pickup sound and position.

That Decade is awesome, man. If I didn't already have a DS'd Hollowbody and a DS'd Dunn, I'd be all over it. Do what you need to to keep it.

As for mine, I am going to do my best to not wander and think I can find something even better. I had a white DJ5 at 8.5 lbs that I have regretted selling for 2 years now, so maybe that will help keep me on target. As soon as I plugged it up, it just felt like home tonally, and small body shape is just what I like. I'm going to do my best, but I'm sure Lakland will release a new color or something that'll throw me for a loop at some point. I don't really think I need to explain myself much further in the LOG thread, do I?
