I do like the picture upload feature...
Here is my recently acquired, practically new DJ4.

Well, in spite of loving the passion and warmth of this group, I thought that purchasing this just made me a pretender.

Well, after looking for a 5 string for a couple of months, a fellow TB er let me fondle his 55-02. Then I saw this and fell in love. I tried to ignore her, but in the end, I was forced to click on the PayPal button yet again.

It does not appear that I can continue to deny that I have become a Lakland freak.

Next stop is to just embrace my addiction and cough up for a USA. Mrs Zoomie will be thrilled.

ahhh indeed I am.
Part of the reason I am having a touch time with this painting.
Torn between trying to make it factual and fairly accurate?
Or go bananas and just be more impressionistic?

Thinking stick with a more factual look on this one..
Then maybe do another one more funky down the road.

On another note...That buckeye Burl 44-94 sitting pretty at Bass Central is driving me NUTS!!! I WANT IT!!!
Just need to get Beaver to come to grips on the crazy high price and make a good deal on it.

Back when my family thought I was going to be an artist for a living, my favourite medium was watercolour. I loved how something completely mundane would take on an almost magical character when painted with them.

Which is funny, because I find that some buckeye almost looks like watercolour or an inkstain. Buckeye is *really* hit or miss for me, though. It's really not my favourite top wood, but every now and again I see one that takes my breath away.

Beautiful HB, congrats :bassist:

I have always been a fan of Buckeye burl tops.....
Spalted and Zebra wood too.
Something about the grains and patterns just works for my eye.
Put in an offer at BC for the Buckeye 44-94....but the reply offer came back too high.
Maybe in time if it sits around I can get it for what I wanna pay? Time will tell, always does :)
In the meantime, will enjoy the 3 US Lakies I own and be grateful :) :bassist:

Might want to hit him up again towards the end of the year, some vendors like to get rid of stock before the new year and seem willing to deal a bit more. Just a thought. :D

Spalt is my all-time fave. I've also recently discovered olive wood, which isn't generally as fancy, by the colours make me weak in the knees.
