thanks man. Obviously this is a beaut - it's kind of a reverse P/J, but I'm sure it's great. Just don't want to pay full price for one of these w/o trying out the 35" inch scale (which I think this is) and getting a sense of whether the pup config lets you get the vintage tones. Also the quality of the B string is huge, that's what really set me on this mission.

Sounds like ya might have no choice to to find one in person? Somehow? somewhere? sometime? lol :hmm:
Might be a chore for sure.

Chuck, I'm in Chicago next week with the Thumpketeers. We will most likely hit Bass Club to say hi to Mark and I'm up for a drop in to say hi to Leo and Carl and the rest of the crew. I'll poke around and see what there is and get you some video, if that helps.

I hear you - I didn't start off-loading the Fenders until I got my first US Lakland. Gary can attest to the black beast I beefed up, that is just an absolutely great bass - but it became fodder for my new Lakland obsession.

5-string PJs are extremely rare. Honestly, Doug/basspraiser's may be the only one I've seen.

I strongly agree that you should arrange a visit to Lakland. Set it up in advance, and note that the shop is closed on the weekend. But if you can't get there on a weekday, Bass Club is a great store and always has some awesome Laklands in stock.
