I put some of the D'Addario balanced tension XL's on my 55-02 and I think it sounds and plays better than it ever has!

Yes, the tension is the first thing I noticed, but during rehearsal for this Sunday's service I began to notice the tonal consistency across the spectrum of the fretboard. On one song we are doing had me jumping to the D and G string, instead of the hanging on the B and E, for some higher tonal sections and with other string sets when doing this the notes would just kinda blare and grate out, but when hitting these the note tonality was more in line with the rest of the song. I really like them.

Awesome! I've spent a fortune over the years, making my own balanced sets. I prefer a 110 E but 107 would work, and a slightly lighter G would be my preference too, but I'm gonna give these a try!

Hey thanks for the reply. I've had EB Cobalts on my 4-94 for a good 6-8 months now. Like the tone but my left hand is not loving the tension overall. I think a balanced tension set is going to be my next string purchase. Time to hit up Jason from BSO it seems.

Yeah, that flame and spalt 5-banger is a beauty. I saw it and Dan's ice blue hollowbody last week. Basses have been selling like hot cakes at Premier. They had three 44-02s in there a little while ago, and they are all gone now! :)
