not sure if this is a no-no, but i ran across a used US 55-94 with a quilted maple top, cherryburst finish and left-handed and was wondering if $1600 is a good deal?

Too good to be true may be the case, but maybe not. Caveat emptor - check out everything and get answers to questions in writing before laying down any cash.

it's at a GC in another state, so i cant check it out in person. with their pretty liberal return policy i dont think it would be too much of a gamble.

Then you want the 4464 with the hanson vintage pickup. That is a GREAT classic sounding P pickup. I have one in my 5564 LOG BASS and love it!

Yep. My 44-64 Custom (Duck Dunn) sounds and plays great. Classic is a very good description of the tone with the Hanson pickups.

That is a squealing deal......best price I have heard for a quilted 5594!

Um, barring any major issues, in my experience that would be a "HELL YES". If you play lefty, that is. (I'm a lefty that plays righty.)

Even if there are issues.....there is plenty of room to pay for fixes and still have a great deal!

Just the usual, dings not pictured, finish cracks, warped neck, and repairs that they may not have disclosed in the listing.

Mind you not trying to scare you off a good deal, just saying don't let the excitement cloud your judgement.

But like you said, if they have a flexible return policy, why not - just make sure they'll cover shipping back if it is defective so you're not out anything from the deal.

since my experiance with lakland is limited (just a skyline 44-51m which was a pretty good player) how are the necks on the 5'ers? would it be similiar to a stingray5, except of coure with 19mm spacing?

gotcha. the usual stuff. i usually give a new(to me) bass a good looking over and one of the first is sighting down the neck for warps/twists. a good neck is pretty much top priority for me.

Very cool! Looks like everything is indeed original. I wasn't sure if the epoxy was done in house or not. And my suspicions that he ordered a rosewood fretboard vs ebony (it was listed as ebony on guitar center) are confirmed. His main fretless P is rosewood, so it all makes a lot of sense. Cool bass!
