Thank Greg, its an Audere... but I have a J-retro in the drawer. Unfortunately, Goldie and I finally parted ways in favor of the RW and blocks. I prefer brunettes anyway (but I still have an extra set of Chis just in case).

Upon first review, I really like the way the Chis and the Audere work together and the neck on this one seems a little sweeter (maybe has more orange oil?) than the Ice Blue bass. I thought about swapping for the J-Retro but it may color the tone of the Chis too much (which as many of you know, I am a big fan of... haha). To me, the Ice blue bass feels more "vintage" and this one feels more "modern" and although it is hard to really tell because of the preamp, the 2 sets of Chis sound different to me. Overall, they are fairly different tonally and will work well together well.

Oh, and there are some ugly marks on the new bass, especially in the neck pocket where wood is exposed... I am thinking I might send it out for a refin, probably BLUE :p

Probably, but not always, and there is also the practice of using wood that has imperfections and subsequently filler for solid body colors.

Not saying Lakland does this as I don't know, but I just recently had another "high end" bass refinished as I found this out the hard way. Decided to give refinishing a go on my own for a little "project" so I broke out the sander and found that it was a beautiful flame maple underneath until I got to the upper horn... and there it was, automotive filler.

Yeah its the CherryBurst BG Brad was sellling. I should have it in a few days. Lookin fwd to it. I bought my first Lakland 2 months ago(Skyline 44-64 custom). Loved it so much I had to upgrade :) I was actually checkin out a '60 Custom Shop Fender P, which was real nice and offered to me $100 over invoice. But I feel good about the BG and like the smaller neck.

This will compliment my Fender Jazz Deluxe well. Only down side is I'm going to sell my 2002 Modulus Q5, just wont have time to play it, and I've gotten away from 5 strings

Hey I have to vent! So I have a USA 5 with a maple board that I love! Laklands are really great instruments. I've always hated the chrome hardware and wanted to change it, I heard I could buy black tuners but not a bridge (who is going to purposely make your $3k mismatched in color? ...yea, me either) so I wait, and wait...,and wait

So I saw someone changed their bridge color to gold and also had a chrome one, okay sweet. Now I can just order a black bridge and be happy as a pig in poop, right? Wrong.

I wrote Lakland so finally I could just drop a bit of coin and boom have a bass that rules all with black friggin' hardware. You know what I heard back?.... "Pound sand" (not an exact quote but that's the idea). I can't even buy the bridge without a new US bass order?!?!! Seriously?! What kind of service is that? It's not like I have a cheapie bass!?!? so just to change the color of the hardware, I have to drop $3k!?!

Anyone else get great customer service like this?

I read a quote from Lakland that said "we need to be the best, now."

Well I'm no detective but think I see something to address!!!

Let me offer a bit of help that apparently all of those guys (and a board) can't figure out. At least offer the upgrade by sending the bass in! I have no problem (even over) paying for the color change!

Seriously?! I have to buy a new bass! That's asinine.
