BB, big +1 to above about Nevermore... Gorgeous bass, you should be proud.
Just curious, what's the logic on the switch that takes the J pu's to full on? Instant slap switch without getting messing w eq? Or do you have another tonal goal or technique in mind?
What kind of knobs are those? Are they available for other laklands with the LH3 installed?
Oh yes, and extremely cool bass for sure. I would be afraid to even touch it![]()
Nice!
'Reminds of the new Navy's X-47B....

Thanks G, and I know how you feel about black basses![]()
Please to explain zee svitches....
I've been up for 24 hours...I'm Slaphappy.
Thanks Doude, came out very nice indeed.
Can't take all the credit for the black covers, that came about from a discussion on the sound I was after. Lakland did a smash up job, went the extra mile and put together one hell of a bass.
Sound is a little more modern than your average JO. The 4494 type pickups give it a bit more punch and the J-retro, well you know...

Seriously, though, fantastic looking bass!
Edit: Damn, every image I try to post on TB lately comes out as a red X. Oh well, it was Bart Simpson as the Raven.
Rehearsing for a community theater show. Using the new (to me) 5501. For one song a teenager that plays guitar and mandolin swaps to bass and I play guitar. When we swap back the bass sounds completely different. He didn't know what the knobs were so he turned them all wide open. It sounded pretty good that way. It never really occurred to me to try that.
Just picked up some big splits to upgrade but now I'm wondering if the secret to the mk1 is to crank everything.

I certainly like them much more after looking at your collection, Brian!
Gary....new avatar....is that the family these days?
Small on my phone so forgive me...
Ouch!
Why?
We found out a couple of weeks ago that my wife had cervical cancer. The surgery was yesterday and I have not been able to sleep between hospital, kids and managing work via smart phone. The good news is that they are positive that they got everything out and that it had not spread. We are waiting on pathology to confirm.
So when we get pathology back, I'm drinking a bottle of whiskey either way.

The pickups are the same type as the ones used on the 44-94/02.
