All the US JOs that I have played have been way heavier than they needed to be. That said, my Glaub and the Skyline Duck Dunn that I used to have are both fairly light weight.

Well, the lightest one is the JO CS Prototype that I got from Lee, sits about 9.5 lbs. The Gold one was over 10lbs and the BLack one with blocks was heavier than that.
I don't really mind weight so much, in fact I get a little freaked out when basses are too light. My Glaub is right around 9 lbs and feels very nice.
Im back in.....just got a 00' 4-94C. I had a 99' 55-94D for 12 years.....it was my main player up until last year. Really cant hang with 5er's any more. I like the simplicity of the Classic. Fit/finish is perfect. Fret work is flawless on this one.

Thought I would share a couple of modded 5501s with the group. The first one is a trimmed down body that I sanded down to trim off some of the 10 lb 11 ounces that it used to be. It's now 9 lbs 12 ounces.
Lane Poor pickups
Wilkins Black Grain finish
Creme knobs
Aguilar OBP3 with active passive switch and mid selector 400/800 switch.
It sounds absolutely spectacular.

Thanks bigdbass. I was heavily inspired and influenced by Fbass of course. Pat Wilkins is the man with that great finish. He nailed it. Hard to believe that used to be a thick 5501.
I'm getting slightly more mature.. I'm not pining for EVERY bass that comes on the block.

It was tempting indeed. At 9.5lbs, it was tad heavier than I wanted it
to be. But compared to my 8.5lb A Bass, it feels heavy. Reality, it's a lightweight compared to some 10lb+ basses out there. I'm usually a sucker for flame and quilt tops. But for some reason the simplicity of the CAR finish really spoke to me....kind of classic that blends into a variety of gig situations. My old 55-94 was a Bart/Bassline setup. So the original Bart/Bart setup was compelling. Time will tell which pup setup I like better. I wante this bass badly....price made it to good to pass up.

Haha. Kinda like when you see the bald guy wo his wig or someone wo their glasses.
Man'o man....missing my DB's. All I have right now to hold me over is my TC112. DB's are NIIIICE. Kinda tossing around some different ideas for replacements. But chances are, I'll prob just buy another pair. When we made the trade, I knew I could replace the speakers. Finding anothe Lakland like this at the that price would have proven to be impossible. Glad we made the deal, glad I got the Lakland, but I miss my Aggies!!
