Lakland Owners Group #66

This, in a nutshell, is why doing LOG basses is so freakin' hard. And you guys haven't even gotten into 4 vs. 5, etc.;)

I kind of figured this was the case, good way to stir up discussion though.

One of them is selling a seafoam Lakland P right now.*cough cough*:D

Which gets to another point: Folks are indecisive. Based on the three previous attempts to launch a LOG bass, I would say 3 votes = maybe one deposit. This is one reason why the three attempts has yielded only one LOG Bass. On the bright side, the other two attempts did influence Lakland to make special limited Skyline runs--the natural/black blocks DJ and the teal and inca Ps and Js.

Hmm, maybe we should influence another special run!

Kinda like so? Used to be an AC DJ, got a refin from the guy before me. Natural headstock.

Yep, looks boss. I'd take that in a heart beat! Would have to swap the pick guard for a black pearloid though

Anyone around here have experience with Nordstrand's NJ4SE J pickups in a DJ4 (or 44-60, I suppose)? I like that they're hum cancelling, and, according to Nordstrand's description at least, they "have a more pronounced lower midrange, and a slightly muted high end". Seems like that might help my DJ4 sound fuller and sound less like Geddy Lee.

(Also thinking about their NJ4SV.)

I love the Nordstrands (soapbars) in my Lull and the Nordstrand P in my Sadowsky. I just ordered some Big Splits to test out. I have not had a jazz with those specific ones in them, but I gotta think based on the others that Carey really knows what he's doing here.

I am guessing it would take a lot more than pickups to sound like Geddy Lee... just saying. :hiding:

Hmm, so the P is good. Tangent: I'm considering the Nordstrand P (or maybe Curtis Novak's "Charlie Christian" P) in the Duck Dunn prior to routing it for a (Curtis Novak) Dark Star.

Yes, the P is good. I still prefer Lindy Fralin for passive classic tone. But the Nordstrand P with the VTC in the Sad is pretty much right there too.

Back to the LOG bass thing...

I'm less picky about the LOG bass being EXACTLY what I want...and more into the idea of getting another danged LOG bass rolling. Sheesh! I would (almost) guarantee that I'd throw down on anything we could come up with, so long as (time to get picky-ish) it was a classic shape... P or J...

That being said, I made my dream LOG bass up in my mind a year ago, and then it came out ...the skyline HoBo 30...

I could never own an Orange bass because I am a Duck, and Orange is Beaver color.

touché! I will never own an orange bass because, even though I live in "Da Bears" country I am a green and gold fan (Packers....).....

some day I want a green and gold bass....maybe :ninja:

PS - TEX...eating nachos and cheese....BEST SNACK EVER!!! (and a bit - ok a lot of hot sauce!)

Ha! I've seen the Ducks' many many unis over the past few years. I'm pretty sure they cover every crayon in the box of 64, lol.

Sorry, just giving you grief, those Ducks unis are just too much.

I'm a Gator, so orange is one of our two colors. And yet I haven't owned an orange bass to this point, I gotta get one!

agreed!!!!EVERYONE needs a bass in the color of their favorite football team....I think Lakland would make a mint if they got the NFL or college contracts!!!!

Get Rodgers to play a bass and that will triple!!! :D

you "gotta"...huh????:eyebrow::eyebrow::eyebrow::eyebrow::eyebrow:

OK...set the clock...I predict 5 years.....and that is being optimistic!

Oooooo, a PJ, very nice!

really!

what do you think of these?
