I didn't think to let you know either. I'd been trying to meet up with Doude and finally it worked out.

Thanks Doug for coming out! Was a lot of fun hanging out! Carl is a blast. Simultaneously irreverent, wise, and with youthful exuberance and passion that is very inspiring and, um, good mood inducing.


I left my Musicman Sterling fretless for a fingerboard repair, so I'll be heading back there in early November, and bringing him my DJ4 for some good lovin'. Maybe we can arrange another mini LOG GTG!

No worries, it's certainly not your fault! I've known Doug for more than six years, and he knows I live less than 15 minutes' drive from the shop. (I'm lucky, I know.) We will definitely have to all get together at Lakland some time, I haven't been in to see the guys in quite a while. Glad you got your Duck sorted out. Huge +1 to your comments about Carl, he is awesome in many ways.

Oh... I am straight up terrible. I didn't like the way it looked with the plain headstock, but once I got the hs finished it never looked right with the tort. I love Mike Quick's work, but this tort he sent leave something to be desired.

Bought a new 44-60 USA yesterday so count me in! No pics yet, but it is trans white W/matching headstock,Rosewood fretboard w/birdseye fret markers. Included tort pg but no screw holes so am not installing @ this time. I LOVE!! this bass.

Cool! I like both videos. Definitely hearing/seeing some Flaming Lips influence in the band you're playing in. Do they wear the lasers all the time?

I wish they wore lasers all the time!!! That would go down as one of the funnest gigs ever.

However, Tommy had an effects guy build a pedal for him that sounded like lasers...it's featured in this song



He plays with it a lot more on this song live, on the recording it's mainly featured around 2:20

Does anyone know what the difference was between the Bart pre that was in the original 55-94/02's and the regular production Bart pre's? Is it just the dip switches for the mid frequency or were there other differences?

"The Bartolini preamp used in early Laklands was a slightly modified NTMB called the NTMB-L. I believe the Treble boost cut frequencies were slightly different. It was a very subtle difference, and I can't remember if the spot was higher or lower than stock, but it was all about making the highs a little smoother which leads me to think it was raised slightly.

Brandon's timing was impeccable. (I hope his drummer appreciates his sense of time!) He was always interested in getting the Dude back, and he caught me in the middle of NND (New Neck Day) happiness and we quickly arranged for, in the words of Bono, a sort of homecoming! The Dude should be shipping tonight!
