If they have done one before you should ask of they still have a template for it. Mike is great and has made me a bunch of guards, but the tort one I got from him is pretty weak. I actually took it off the bass it was on.

I know you have had some bad dealings with Novak, but after playing my NeoPunch 44-64 and The Dude for the last few hours, the DS pup is definitely more growly and big. The Neo sounds awesome, but man, that DS! If Novak really has captured the bisonic sound, he's got a super pup on his hands!
For the record, I don't believe the issues were entirely Curtis's fault, after some further dealings with him. I mean, he didn't send me a diagram, but he is making it right. I have a dual DS jazz with Hammond pickups, so I have a good comparison.
I prefer ANY single coil P bass p'up over a split P p'up. I ESPECIALLY like my DS'd Glaub. I'd like it more if it had a 2nd DS near the bridge though.
You know you would think of all people here on TB, I would be into the DARKstar thing, cool name, just not for me sonically.

Anyone using LaBella flats on their Lakland (P) ? I've used JO flats but wanted to try some different flats on the Duck Dunn. I'd like it to sound like, well, Duck Dunn! (Or other thumpy P with flats heroes like Jamerson, early Rocco, etc.)
I'm told for through-body stringing, one needs to do extra long scale and a special through-body option on the strings. Going back and forth between gauges 43-104 or 39-96. I like 45-100 in rounds.

I myself just started playing some songs with a pick, and it really is a sweet sound. Don't knock it 'til you try it.
More than anything I was just making fun of you... I like a lot of pick players and a lot of flats players. Personally, I would never use either on any of my basses.
I'm using GHS Precision Flats on my Duck Dunn. They sound great and are silky smooth. They have the Duck sound!
