No offense intended, but am I the only one who thinks some of the burls just look like mold?

From Wikepedia: Insect infestation and certain types of mold infestation are the most common causes of this condition.

Maybe check the old green bread left in the drawer, then check a $4,350 retail US Lakland top and compare?

Burl and spalt are both types of fungus growths, though burl isn't always fungal in nature. More importantly, someone along the way figured out that fungus ridden wood could look amazing if shaped and polished correctly, and they also realized they could charge a premium for it too. If only I achieve the same result with bread!

That pic I posted of the moldy bread, could be a stylin bass with the right pre amp and pups installed and of course a killer US Lakland neck
It actually has an interesting " grain" to it lol

That burl is gorgeous. ...absolutely one of my favorite, if not all time favorite wood top! Lakland and Spector ns-4's look just great burl....
