I have a USA 55-94 from 2002 and I'm looking at a JO5 from 2002. Is the neck feel and profile similar between the two?
Pretty much, it's the same neck. I got JO5 28 from that year.
Pumpkin Spice maybe? Seriously though, I love this color. Nice weight on this one as well. Nicely priced as well for a USA model.
There's an LPB JO5 with upgrades in the classifieds that if I had the Bass $ for, I would pick it up.

My New Years GAS is hot. There's a Lakland P (burst) in the classifieds and the only thing that's stopping me from pulling the tigger is it's only a 4 string. At the same time there's also a DJ5 and a squire P5 for under a grand....

That DJ5 is really nice. I like the fact that it's volume-blend-tone for the control layout. If you could find a white perloid pickguard, that would tie into the block inlays. Not too bad weight either.

I sold My DJ4 for another bass. I miss it.
Right!!! I'm now a solid 5 convert but I would take the dip if I was ready to buy something today. I also have my eyes on the black DJ5 with Gold hardware, in the classifieds. A squire P V, a solid black REV fellowship, a Sire P7 5, and a handfull of Aria Pro 2 late 70's Lawsuit P basses.
Unfortunatly, or not, I only have space for 2 basses in my life.
Question for my fellow Lakland players… currently have a 55-02, ash/maple with roasted maple/roasted maple. Having a custom 55AJ built now - due in late March, pics when I get it that will become my primary (swamp ash/burl maple, roasted maple/roasted maple/Ebony blocks, Aguilar OBP-3 with Super Doubles, black hardware. Mainly for Gospel, Funk, Modern Jazz.
Planning my next build now - high C tuning (I HATE 6 strings and Lakland doesn’t make them anyway), same preamp, DCBs instead of Super Doubles, and trying to decide on body woods. Leaning Mahogany with Walnut and an Ebony board on maple. I want that modern fusion soloist tone (Janek, Tony Grey, etc…) would that be a good wood combo or should I think about a different body wood? Also, of note: I’m a Sweetwater Sales Engineer so I have direct access to the team (and great pricing ) or I might consider a different brand…

I'm still trying to get some general intel on changes made to the Skyline line. I know at one point that the Skyline 44-64/Glaub body was 1.75" thick and I know that currently they are 1.625" thick (which matches the USA line) but I am unsure when that happened. I am wondering if it happened when the factory changed to Indonesia. Anyone have an early Indo one and willing to measure for me? I think that would be 2007 or 2008. Around that time. I am also interested in body thicknesses for the standard -01 -02 line so anyone with one of those (Korean and Indonesian) I would be interested in knowing specs there. Heck....I am not even positive that a USA -94 is 1.625" thick or 1.75". I know thats the case for the -64 and -60 as they were supposed to be vintage spec'd. So I guess beyond that specific Glaub info I am happy to get any and all body thickness measurements from everyone here. (Note that this is body thickness not width at the nut. I know the measurements sound similar)
It’s there, just photo weirdness. Sweetwater got quite few roasted/roasted Skylines.
I had the same question on my 44-02 deluxe with roasted maple neck - upon inquiry, I think it was the dealer or Lakland themselves that mentioned to me that they were 'limited' editions.. I took that to mean they produce a limited amount and whoever gets them for resale gets them.
