Question for my fellow Lakland players… currently have a 55-02, ash/maple with roasted maple/roasted maple. Having a custom 55AJ built now - due in late March, pics when I get it that will become my primary (swamp ash/burl maple, roasted maple/roasted maple/Ebony blocks, Aguilar OBP-3 with Super Doubles, black hardware. Mainly for Gospel, Funk, Modern Jazz.
Planning my next build now - high C tuning (I HATE 6 strings and Lakland doesn’t make them anyway), same preamp, DCBs instead of Super Doubles, and trying to decide on body woods. Leaning Mahogany with Walnut and an Ebony board on maple. I want that modern fusion soloist tone (Janek, Tony Grey, etc…) would that be a good wood combo or should I think about a different body wood? Also, of note: I’m a
Sweetwater Sales Engineer so I have direct access to the team (and great pricing ) or I might consider a different brand…
