Oh my! Just watched a YouTube vid of Bill Dickens playing a custom 55-94, looks like it had a Buckeye Burl top, two LH3 MM PUPS, and two ramps. He talked about it briefly. Beautiful bass sonically and aestheticly.

I've been playing for decades, but I bought my first digital calipers a few months ago. I go around measuring everything so I'll participate-
Subject is my Glaub/44-64, Sunburst, maple neck. Neck has a full shiny gloss finish. Decal on the back of the headstock says made in Indonesia, and the serial number begins with 10, which I think means it's a 2010.
Body thickness is 1.625 -
Thanks! So its been corrected for awhile. I am thinking it may have happened during the factory change. That is a fairly early Indonesian one. I will need to verify that a 2007 Korean one is still 1.75" thick. Getting into the neck profiles will be tougher (I am not sure if they all still use the same profile as they always have or if they changed it at some point) but I find all of this very interesting.
The pickup by the bridge is a synth controller. I was also surprised by his tone. I don't know what kind of strings those are.
Probably just black coated strings… not tape wounds. Doesn't DR have black coated ones, as well as all the other colors they offer?
DR Black Beauties are black coated SS strings with a round core.
Have never used coated rounds.
Those are black tapewounds, I think. Just based on his tone in the first section.
Agreed - when first installed, LaBella black tapewounds have a lot more zing and high-end than you'd expect. It's quite a surprise if you don't have any prior experience using them. I'd expect that's where the effective slap sound comes from in the Dickens clip.
