How come there are no Skyline 55-64's available? Was there just not a market for it? I'm looking for a 5 string p and love the neck and 35" length of Lakland's.
Lakland made ....I think 2 runs of the bass and then stated they were not seeing the demand for continued Skyline production....I think the minimum order for a run increased....

I think they should produce them in the skyline version again!
I know they still make US versions...
I think they were probably ahead of their time, I wager that there is more of a demand for them now than when they were building them….as long as they can keep the weights down and come up with some compelling, vintage inspired colours etc. While I adore Lakland (my US custom 44-PJ is my number 1), I feel like that current crop of Skyline models are pretty uninspiring as colours and spec go.

I feel this! I was just doing some maintenance this past Sunday on a few of my main players and the outdoor shows this summer have been more brutal than the past several years on my gear!!! I am so ready for fall and indoor runs....haha!

Just checking in after going back over a pile of photos over apparently a couple of years with my '04 MIK 44-02 Skyline Deluxe. Still my absolute favorite bass to play! And even against a vintage 1960 Fender Precision and '50s Classic P, it gets me P'like sounds over to super trebly bridge pup tones, and then some. Hard to believe I was able to afford an instrument that produces these tones with so little effort needed to play it!

I was thinking of ordering a new 55-94 and wondering how the quality of the US Lakland's is these days in general?
Also I have a korean LH3 black rosewood 55-02 already and tonally would like the 55-94 to sound similar. Are there preferences on fingerboard material? I like the look of the birdseye maple but worried it will be too bright. Is the Rosewood still a true Rosewood or the Indian Laurel? Does the roasted maple change the tonal quality?
Also are their US swamp ash bodies one piece of wood generally? Does adding top on the body add to the weight significantly or change the tone?
Any guidance is appreciated.. Thank you!

I just saw some random YouTube video of someone rocking a Lakland 55-02. The B-string was seismic, which made me kinda miss my old Amber one. Like, not enough to buy a whole new bass or get back into 35-inch scale, but I'll always have a soft spot for a nice Lakland.

Hey, do you remember that gorgeous trans orange P5 that was going around at one point? I think Chef had it for a while? Am I remembering right? I really wanted that bass.
Played a private gig in an insane backyard tonight but got a good photo of my #1 shortly before it started to rain and pandemonium ensued.
I am becoming more and more unhappy with the sound of my Skyline 44-64 PJ, which is passive.
The pickups are lower output from my other basses. they feel anemic, and I want something more dynamic, but not at the price of losing warmth or fullness.
For that reason, in my mind at lease I wouldn't consider the Bartolini direction, but am interested if other Skyline 44-64 owners felt the same and what changes they made.
I prefer full-sounding passive basses, but a thinking this might be the time to consider something with an onboard pre that would not require any routing. I am also not after any super modern EMG type sound but trying to not close off myself to ideas, including something but not limited to more modern sounding.
Has anyone had this situation and addressed it?
