There were some issues. A couple dings in the top. Some fret issues, some VERY minor swirling in the finish. Like it was played.
I sent it back the day after I got it.
Awaiting my refund.....
It's now listed at a "Demo Special"
A disappointing experience including some drama.
I'll be happy once I have my refund and I'll be able to put it behind me

I had seen that on the website as Available and I though the same thing, that someone had bought that on here. Well, I'm sorry it wasn't the experience you were hoping, especially for a USA model made right at the shop, but I am glad it's resolved and that you are getting a refund.
Question for Lakland owners (especially those of you who may own both the 44-01 and the 44-02, or have tried both of them). I am looking to become a member of the club, but am trying to choose between the two Skyline models. I can't demo either of them at my location.
Tone wise, I play mostly hard rock and I am looking to fit somewhere between my Hamer Cruise J-bass with passive Seymour Duncan single coil pickups and my Spector NS-2a with EMG PJ's and an LHZ pre-amp from our friend @AgingEngineer here at TB. I would like some growl (thinking the 44-01 my be the ticket) but prefer the color options for the 44-02. Can the 44-02 achieve the tone of the 44-01 plus some, or are they altogether different? So hard to tell from utube vids.
Thanks for any advice from those in the know.

I have both and they are different from one another. The 44-02 is more versatile in the choice of tones available. Both of mine have modified pups and pre’s. Of the two,I use the 44-02 the most. Covers more ground tonally. My 44-01 is no slouch. It has it’s own tonality.
I have owned both 44/55-01 and 44/55-02's. I prefer the 02's overall because they give such a unique option of tones. I also like the LH-3 over the Bartolini pre in the 01's. The 01's are not weak by any means, but my opinion is the variable options on the 02's make them my go to basses.
Agree! My 44-01 has Nordstrand Big Singles combined with an Audere pre. Really transformed into a much better base with much more clarity and tonal options.
My 44-02 has Bart pups and a John East Unipre that really made this bass what I was really after. It is # 1.

I have both, still completely stock. I think the 44-01 has more high end sizzle, it's very bright and open sounding. The 44-02 has a deeper tone, IMO.
Maybe the 44-01 is more modern sounding, but the 44-02 still sounds great to me.
The 44-02 signal output is much stronger than the 44-01, for some reason it's easier for me to get a good recording on my 44-01 using my audio interface.
If I record using the 02, I turn the rear humbucker to a single coil as all my humbucking basses seem to slightly distort my interface if recording using the humbucking pickup.
I don't think you'll go wrong with either, I slightly prefer my 44-02 but I play the 44-01 all the time.
The obvious answer is get both! LOL

There ya go! Can’t go wrong with both! Also the 44-01 is a great mod platform.
The 44-OS is also another great option, updated Bart Pre and active/passive options, great "modern sound", great for slap but covers alot of ground tonally - but like others have mentioned, and having had both, I would also recommend getting both

They email it out to those who want it most every Tuesday. This is the second Lakland I've bought that way. The first was a DJ-5 that was their NAMM demo bass.

Used an idea from @Jamvan for strap storage. Space is limited and this is much neater. Thanks for the idea.
