It was…until it started to rain. Pretty difficult load out under duress. 😂

I shielded my 44-60. I did 3 coats of the paint with 24 hours between each coat. I peeled my masking tape off between each coat to make sure I wasn’t getting paint on the body. I don’t have a picture, but I also ran a wire from each pickup cavity to the control cavity. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much, but the paint did a great job of shielding. I can now let go of the strings and not get noise. It wasn’t bad before, but it’s dead silent now.

Very cool and good to hear that this worked. My Skyline 44-60 has grey shield paint in the pickup routes and I assume the control cavity. It's generally quiet with both pickups on full but on occasion I get buzzing in certain environments when I let go of the strings. I'd like to get this more professionally shielded but I'm waiting until I decide on new pickups to do this.

I've put my 2017 custom 44-64 PJ up for sale and hoping it will find a good home with someone here. It's translucent black and BEM fret-board with ebony blocks. Hardly played at all so it is like new. I just never went back to 4 strings after switching to 5 so it's been sitting in its case in an air conditioned room all this time.

I also listed the 2009 55-J 'Midas' custom bass, gold, rosewood with pearl blocks and passive VVT with Chisonic pups. The best neck action of all that I've tried so far. If interested, see the Classifieds section here and/or pm.

I may have priced these too high, but it's easier to go down than up. Lol. I'll give it some time before posting them on other sites.

It’s definitely worth it. You’ll still have the 60 Hz hum if the volumes aren’t equal even with the shielding. Hum cancelling pickups are needed to not have that. The slight hum when favoring one pickup or the other has never bothered me. I’ve also never really cared for the sound of any noise cancelling “single coil” pickups over a traditional single coil pickup. The rest of the hum/hiss/noise is virtually gone when letting go of the strings. I say “virtually” because I’m still able to create a ground loop when I hook up to my laptop with my DI and get a slight hiss, but nothing like before. When the aux in of my DI isn’t connected to the laptop, it’s silent now. I recommend it. And, you can probably do it yourself. Grab a can of the paint, do 3 coats with 24 hours between each coat, and then connect the 3 cavities. The actual work part is easy. It’s just stupid time consuming.

Looking to join this group finally. I feel in love with my Skyline 55-02 that I got brand new back in 2011. I've gone through a bunch of other gear over the last 13 years, but she's been with me all through it.

One of the things I did when I had her in the first few years is work with Lakland to get a Rosewood neck to swap from the Maple. It was extremely easy back then and was blown away that a manufacturer would let me send my bass in and put a new neck on it. Anyway below are a couple of videos I've done with her recently.

Neopunch are Nordstrand pickups, right? I can't say anything negative about my experience with any Nordstrand pickup.
It will be more modern sounding than the traditional P pickup. If that's ok with you, go for it.
and should be very reliable, wonderful bass.
