Double Bass fingerboards have much more arched radius and are fingered on a vertical plane. In comparison Electric Bass Fingerboards have a “ flatter” radius so lined fretless fingerboards are better for me.Both...
Yes ear but you need to find the right note as well.... And a nicely set up bass assists in that ( as do the lines....I know I'm a wimp!)
Just sent you a PMGood point! Plus the individuals and institutions that own vintage violins, violas, and cellos accept the responsibility that to be healthy and passed down they have to be played. So, they continually loan them to professionals to use for public performances. Imagine if the Pre CBS Fender “collectors”
felt that responsibility. While I’m sure some do, many do not. Ok, derail over! Back to Lakland. Both my 55-94’s are over 25 years old and look great. No relic’s do I posses. View attachment 7258071View attachment 7258072
You won't be disappointed by a 5560... That's for sure!Hi all. I have a 2010 USA Glaub that I like very much. I've been wanting to get a 5-string in my collection. The classifieds has a lovely 2004 Joe Osborne. Any thoughts or opinions on this instrument? The player wear is not an issue for me so long as the neck is dent free and hardware works smoothly. I've never owned a 35" scale bass so there is that uncertainty.

I have a 2004 Lakland Joe Osborne 5 string in SeaFoam green. I toured with this bass for 4 years. It definitely has a a few dents and dings which I've tried to picture. It's a great bass. It sounds and plays amazing. I'm only selling it because I've quit touring. It hasn't been played in at...

I have one very similar to that, even in color, and it's my favorite Lakland. I've had over 100 Laklands over the years so that's saying something.Hi all. What do you think of the 35" vs 34" scale?I have one very similar to that, even in color, and it's my favorite Lakland. I've had over 100 Laklands over the years so that's saying something.
I don't even think of it. I guess my playing isn't technical enough for it to be a factor. What do you think of the 35" vs 34" scale?
I found it a pretty easy transition. What do you think of the 35" vs 34" scale?
You can always contact Carl to build you one!I am really wanting to get a fretless - something with a preamp, even a Carlo would be nice - very slim pickings for good fretless basses here in Canada outside of Fender's, which I have had and sold, were uninspiring - Lakland's here are so hard to find and so much more expensive - I wish I could land a Carlo or a Lakland fretless, if ever any body is interested in unloading with the caveat of shipping to Canada... did I just do that again? haha![]()

Tempting for sure, ordering/getting gear to Canada can get expensive and cumbersome - wasn’t sure what Carl’s plans are these days as wellYou can always contact Carl to build you one!

Doug(Basspraiser) and I met at Lakland today with Carl.
I had him do a set up on my Carlo. Doug had him do some adjustments on his Carlo fretless.
Doug also picked up his Skyline 44-64 after a repaint. A beautiful bass.
Carl is just the greatest guy. So knowledgeable and gracious with his time.
It's always fun to see what he has around his small shop.
Here are a few pictures I snapped
