yeah well I am not a fan of this new site format at all. The way they have the classifieds set up does not allow people to bump threads...the once a day thing is BS.
I really have not been on TB hardly at all since they switched formats...I am not a fan of change honestly.

This price isssssssssssss giving the bass away.......
I have seen many us Laklands on here for sale that were repaints...pup swaps...tons of gig time...this and that selling for the $2,300 - $2,700 price point...in the past 5 years here on TB...
So mine? For $2,750!!!! shipped and insured....... Being as brand new and un used with ivory case as new...plastic on tuners never taken off...for a HUGE savings off the new selling price...under warranty? Is U-N-R-E-A-L cheap!!
If no Loggers grab it in the next day or two, I guess I will list it on feebay for $3,600 and go from there...

Then you have the dudes that just ask questions to be jerks and are never really serious about buying. I have pretty much had it...

Dan, did you switch to the "retro" layout? Much better than the standard one, IMO.

Here is my Skyline 44-02 with a custom medium scale neck. Lakland wouldn't send me decal for the headstock since it wasn't their neck. Do I still qualify for club nbr?

I want to give a meaningful answer but I'm not sure what the difference is between profile and cosmetic facsimile. The requirements to the luthier were to reproduce all the measurements, fret board arc etc., except in a medium scale length (32"). So to me it is the same profile and cosmetic facsimile as the original except the nut is now bone, the tuners are official hip shot and the dots are black mother of pearl. To me the playability is improved because of the fret spacing. I have also lowered the strings more than was on the original so that improved playability also. I did not try to lower them on the original so I can not attribute that improvement to the new neck but the medium scale did not prevent lowering the strings as some in posts have suggested it might. I don't see any great tone difference. It came back with medium scale strings but they were too short to string through the body. I have now put on long scale strings so they can go through the body and I also used a little different string. These are pressure wound as opposed to the original round wounds. They are a little darker. I upped the mid range on the amp a little so I am back close to the original tone. I have not seen any drawbacks to this conversion.

Thanks for the reply, the second sentence addressed my question(s). And just to clarify, by profile, I was referring to the shape and dimensions of the neck and how it meets the fretboard - Laklands don't have "shoulders" as Carl puts it. A cosmetic facsimile would be creating a neck without any regard to the dimensions of a Lakland neck and simply making the headstock look like a Lakland.

And if Carl says Laklands don't have shoulders, then his Carlo basses REALLY don't have shoulders. These basses are so nice and Super Slim!
...afterall, that is how he described the neck difference to me between Lakland's and his; for his, he shaves down the shoulder.
