Take it, that's a good deal for any JO. The JO's are very comfortable, great sounding basses. You'll probably like it!

I have never played a JO as I am more into Lakland's less classic offerings, but you will love the quality and tone!

Well thx for your replies.

@Texan: that's what I've been reading over the interwebz about those basses. Chances are I'll use it more than my Yamaha.

@Iomo: Salut! Oui je suis un local!! Hello neighbor! I mean I think my mind was made up before posting here but I thought I could ask anyway? And yes, GO HABS!!

I found what the confusion was- I mostly use Talkbass on my Iphone, and the new rule apparently doesn't affect the Talkbass app. Testing on my computer now and you all are correct that I am unable to bump other folks threads on the computer forum. I did bump your ad in the Smartphone ap version though, Mrfstop- better than nothing! I still am not bothered by this rule to be honest. I think the "rule change" I was referring to earlier must have been their original change that didn't allow anyone else to post in somebodys Classified thread at all- They wisely changed that one quickly!

Back to the regularly-scheduled program...

A JO5 will probably be my next purchase. The only thing that I think you can legitimately argue about on a JO of any model is the pickup preference and do you want a pre or not. The JO that I had in the past, which I dearly miss, sounded wonderful with the stock Lakland/Hanson pickups and concentric V/T V/T pots. I kept it passive and upgraded it to the Hanson Chi-Sonic pickups and it was another world of wonderful, stupendous even. Why did I sell it? Because I am stupid:banghead:. For $700 you are getting a great bass that you can change in many ways if you feel the need.

...afterall, that is how he described the neck difference to me between Lakland's and his; for his, he shaves down the shoulder.

After all this time, I could never really figure out what made the Lakland neck a "Lakland Neck" until you posted this... I went home and played my JO against a few other basses and realized that is the #1 thing that makes me grab that bass over all the other Js I have. I feel like an idiot.

I wanna keep it passive as I'm not totally sure I like the active pups in my Yamaha. In fact, I would have both: a passive bass and an active bass. I mean don't get me wrong, the versatility of active pups is very nice but I like simple stuff, not too many knobs... Anyways we'll see, I'll start with the stock pups and go from there.

This is one of those things that just doesn't matter to me. I can go from my Hollow 30 to a P bass with a 1 3/4 nut to my upright. Not saying it shouldn't be important to someone else but it's funny where our preferences lie.

I get you, I just like it better, not saying I don't play other basses, just that if I had a "main bass" its my US JO with Chi Sonics for sure. Its a tone machine and plays like a dream. I also have an active PJ Valenti with the Victor Wooten combo in it that I use a ton for more modern toned and slap stuff. The neck on that has a ridge and I love it too. But comparing my JO to my Fender CS or the other Js I have, I will take the JO in terms of feel. Obviosuly if someone wants a more vintage sound, I can't use it because of the pickups...

I've been a Lakland fan since the early days. I remember playing a Sherwood Green 55-94 at Cascio music in Milwaukee back in the 90s and being blown away. My first was a 55-02 that was simply amazing. A few years later I visited the factory to meet Dan and pick up my custom Joe Osborn 5 with clear pickguard and clean "no dots" Birdseye maple neck. Since then I've had a Duck Dunn, a 55-94 Classic, 44-94 deluxe and still have a Skyline Hollowbody. They've all been amazing. After foolishly trading my 55-94 I've regained my sanity with an early 55-94 in shoreline Gold rosewood board. In my opinion any call musician needs a P, a J and a 55-94. All basses covered.

I bought it from TBer Whirldpeas. He had posted a pic of it in this thread a ways back. I immediately hit him up and said if he ever wanted to sell that I'd buy it. He kept checking in over the past six or eight months to see if I was still interested and eventually decided to sell. It plays and sounds fantastic as you would expect.

played my (regular CHI-equip'd) HB last Sunday...it sounds sooooo good.....
