Well, I sold the Skyline DD to buy this one... It was a good decision. I've been missing my Glaub ever since I had to sell it to move, but I like the 1.5 neck much more than the 1.75 that the sea foam one had.

I bought Hipshack's.. 
Good to see that 55-94 went. What a nice bass.. It was in great shape too!! I like the natural quilt better than the Cherry with a Maple neck.. These basses are superb and I can only imagine the butter associated with the U.S. made ones.. I got both of these from here on TB. The 55-01 originally had Bart Mk5s and an LH3 pre with single/parallel switching.. It sounded good .. but IO rarely used it in parallel and I had the Audere from another mod I had been planning on a different bass. I took out the LH3 and put in the Audere ProZ 4 band and It is for me an almost perfect match. I am seriously considering selling another fretted 5 that I like and just keeping these two as my frik and frak..

anyone here own a newer Skyline DJ4 ? What's your opinion on them and what do you think of the LL/Hanson pup's .. thanks
I had a DJ with the Hanson pup's and they were great sounding!
I own an '08 dj with the Hanson pups. Great sounding bass. I had a dj 5 with aeros, not sure which I liked better tone wise. Both are /were great sounding basses. If my old guy memory serves, the hansons might be a little more clear and punchy. Hard to say for sure since I've changed amps since I owned the dj5.

I got wild hair today and decided to make a couple of sets of knobs for my 55-01 and 55-02. I used a nicely grained piece of Cocobolo and brass rods to make the indicator dots. As beautiful as Cocobolo is, it is so dense and hard that my drill press had a very difficult time getting through it with my plug cutter. It also has odd voids and is very brittle due to the high hardness. I like the way that they turned out. I bored the hole for the pot a bit undersized so that I could avoid using a set screw. I had to gently open the bore by hand a bit so that the knobs would fit, but in the end they are nice and tight and there is no slippage. I really like the brass with the dark wood, its a nice, classy look. I was surprised how good the set on the 55-02 look with the cherry sunburst.
This was my first attempt at this. Now that I know exactly what to do, I'm looking forward to making more.
I think that I'm going to find a few nice pieces of wood and create a nice set of laminate knobs. Any suggestions would great.

I've got a couple of single coil Hansons in my modded Scheff. ( See my profile for deets.) VERY nice pickups.
IMO, YMMV, etc etc, but do not hesitate for moment about using Hanson pickups.
My singles are beefy and wooly but not muddy. Very pleasant top end. Sound great even in a dense mix. My fav pickups ever.
I switched out a Hanson Vintage P for a Nordy P4 and kind of regret it. The Nordy sounds terrific but the Hanson had more.....More character. More authority. More "mojo". Again, YMMV.

Got my 55-01 Deluxe back today after the Bart pre & pup mods. They really opened up the tone a lot!! Love it!! Also added some nice wooden knobs. I'll post up some pics in a bit.
