Lakland Owners Group #69

Not that your opinion doesn't mean the world to me, but that Carl liked them makes me feel great!

Last nights gig was a mixed bag. The room sounded fantastic. The mix was dead on...and the crowd was dead too. I found out later that it was an accounting firm, so I kind of put 2 and 2 together and things made sense.

I played the 55-01 most of the night with my Shuttlemax 9.2. The sound of the 55-01 is so thick, round but still precise and balanced that it just brings a smile to my face. I switched to the 55-02 for the last set and it is so articulate. They are an incredible pair to gig with. They really can do any style of music and do it extraordinarily well. A good analogy for the two basses: 55-01=Spicoli 55-02=Mr. Hand

We did everything from our Rockabilly version of Okee From Muskogee and country standards to Purple Rain and it sounded fantastic.

I made a Rosewood finger bridge for the 55-01 this week and I really liked the tones that I could get playing between the pickups. I'm going to make one for the 55-02 this week. They are really handy tools.

Come in Doude!! I used to only play 6ers. Take it from me, if you can't do it with 4 (I'm considering a 3 string) then something is wrong man!
I've been wanting a 3-string for a long time. Years ago, Tony Levin used to use a Stingray 3-string custom made for him by Musicman. (It was lost in a fire :( ). I've talked to Carl about making one a couple times. Just hard to justify the expense for what essentially boils down to a novelty at best, and a more or less pointless political statement at worst!
Is there a 3-string Roscoe floating around?

I saw it in the classifieds a few days ago
