Lakland Owners Group #69

Got my Lakland Skyline 55-60 back from the shop tonight. Finally, all the mods are done, the guitar is back together (new neck with maple fretboard versus the original rosewood), I strung it up with a fresh set of Dunlop nickel strings (45 ~ 130) and got to play it for the first time in months! It sounds terrific! I couldn't be happier with the way she turned out! I ended up gutting it and installing a set of EMG J5s. They have really made a night & day difference with the tone. Great pickups!

FYI, the EMGs were a drop in replacement. Fit the bass perfectly. No additional routing required.

Glad it worked out for you!!!!

We need pictures!!!

In case you're not Facebook friends with them (it's a VERY selective group), the Lakland bit aired (after being rescheduled 3 times) last night on one of the local PBS affiliates.

In the clip that they showed with Darryl Jones and Pino Palladino, they are not playing a Lakland. LOL.

I'm back in "The Family". This was listed on Ebay, and ended with no bids.
I contacted the seller and got a sweet deal.
Its quite scratched up. However, hope to be sending it off to Pat Wilkins for a fresh coat of paint.

I want to replace the tuning gears with the long stem tuners they use on US Glaubs.
Are those direct replacements?

I assume then that this is a Skyline? Your best bet would be to contact Hipshot and ask. If memory serves the holes are a little undersized and require some work to fit the bushing for a US tuner.
