Another question: what do you guys feel would be fair prices for minimally used (demo condition) 5501 and 5594 necks? The 5501 has a RW board and the 5594 is BEM.

This is a great time for me to bring up my conspiracy theory/paranoia with instruments and Amazon... regardless of price (that's a smoking deal... too bad I need another 'burst like I need another hole in my head) are the instruments... good buys? Are they on Amazon for a "reason"? I know the way Amazon works in general- a retailer can sell through, but is that specific piece put on reserve/in "escrow"/shoved in a corner in a back room while its listed on Amazon? (Bass Club Chicago has a 2011 White/tort 44-60 that's still listed on Amazon, but it's not on their website or wasn't in the store the last time I was in town) I've heard nasty rumors that the Amazon stock is not quite "perfect"... no blems or major quality issues, but something is not quite right... anyone else have any truth to that or dispel that notion?

Bottom line... If you're slightly picky, would you buy off Amazon?

I assume then that this is a Skyline? Your best bet would be to contact Hipshot and ask. If memory serves the holes are a little undersized and require some work to fit the bushing for a US tuner.

I have (in black, unfortunately for Gecko5) sets of different size bushings that work with the US tuners (Ultra Lites) that have threads to screw on the bushings that fit either the US or Skyline tuner holes. I'm not sure if they have them for the press fit standard tuner bushings or not.

I've bought a couple of instruments from Amazon, I don't have them anymore. I was tempted pre Xmas to go for this one guitar, but then remembered why I don't still have the other instruments I purchased from them before.

I suspect it's probably a crap shoot like ordering from any other larger online retailer, MF, GC, etc. But at least with Amazon, the return policy is pretty good.

I'd buy it off Amazon in a heartbeat-no shipping charges (I have Amazon Prime) and if it's off, I can return it easily and seamlessly.

What's to fear? The only minimal risk I see is the small task of printing a return label, re-boxing it and dropping at UPS......that's definitely worth saving $800 in my book

A few months ago I tried a set of Labella black nylon tapes on my hollow 30, they are not for me. If anyone that has a hollow 30 wants to give them a shot let me know, cover shipping plus a couple bucks.

For the record LaBella DTF extra light 39 56 77 96 are my favorite.

I'm loving mine but they took some hits when we toured some in December... pissed me off since they were brand new. So, I traded some PA gear for a SWR Big Bertha 215 that I'm taking to Nashville tomorrow and from there to the coast of NC. I'm going to look into having a road case built to hold both 112 cabs vertically stacked, before I tour with them again. Bouncing around in a trailer takes a toll QUICK, lesson learned the hard way.

Black hardware transformation complete.

Wow, the black is very transformational! It especially pops against the maple, but my favorite thing is that it makes the bridge part of the "black trinity" on the body - in other words it now matches the 2 pickups instead of being the 1 jarring "Chrome thing" on the body. Very cool!
