First time I have played or heard one in person and I am real glad I pulled the trigger. Looks and sounds oh so good and its pretty light at 8.5lbs.

Wow thats a lot of basses.... well for some people. Here on TB that would only be half of some peeps collection.

And actually I have been wondering how much better USA Lakland would play and sound..... and how much I can get for my Fender P.... and jazz... and Gibson SG bass.... and where I can get a USA Lakland at a decent price.... wonder how much I could get for a kidney....

Does Lakland use the same electronics in their imports as whats in the USA's?

Does Lakland use the same electronics in their imports as whats in the USA's?

The 44-02 and 55-02 have the same pickups and preamp (LH-3) as the 44-94 and 55-94.
Most of the other Skyline models use the same Lakland/Hansen pickups as their US counterparts.
The 44-01/55-01 has different pickups and preamp (Bartolini MK-1) than any other models. (And thus provides a great value and platform for electronics upgrades!)

Oh.. the 44-AJ and 55-AJ Skylines use the same Bart preamp as the -01 series but different (Lakland) pickups. The US -AJ uses the LH3 preamp like the -94.

That might all be clearer if you poke around the models on Lakland's web site!

I hadn't, but I've learned a lot about it after working backwards from that clip. DVD hunt is underway. My wife is not very happy about it.
