Looks like the Lakland LH3 soapbar pup http://Invalid Link Removed would be a direct replacement for the Barts in my 44-01. Can anyone testify to the sound differences between the Barts and the laklands and is it a worthy swap? I like the Barts but always looking to do better.
It appears we have a new tradition on this board....

One of us...
Change the preamp first. The pre is the weak point. I upgraded to the Bart NTMB 918f pre and it make a huge difference. The pups are actually. Not bad.
Had so much fun playing at a festival yesterday with my Lakland.
Got a lot of great feedback from everyone about my bass

I saw these too...but, I agree withTexan. I changed the preamp to the U.S. Bart 5.2 and the pups aren't bad at all.

The pups, even though the look like soap bars, are actually in a P Bass configuration. They sound really good with the upgraded pre and can nail a P Bass and an aggressive jazz bass.
Sounds like a winner. Been recording with it for the past 2 nights and it sounds pretty good as is and the reason I said "may pull the trigger"But if I can improve on it Ill give it a shot. The more I play it the more I wanna play it.
Using the DJ4 tonight instead of Sea Monster. Sea Monster hadn't stayed home since 2013!
