Lakland Owners Group #69

Here's my Lakland 55-94 Deluxe. Original Bart electronics. One of the best playing basses I've ever owned. I wasn't a huge fan of the feel of the Skyline models. But, the American models are absolutely incredible.

So, I've been trying to have GAS for the last few months and nothing is working, I've been to dozens of websites, watched countless videos, been through the classifieds here I don't know how many times and I've tried basses made by Fodera, Pete Hilton, Marleaux, Dingwall, Le Fay, MTD, etc, etc, etc. Sure, some of those other brands offer fancier woods and what not, but every time I pick up and play my 4-63 I forget all about the other possible acquisitions.

Well I was looking for something different, just because and it's feeling a little naked in the music room with only two basses at present. I don't have any real need and perhaps that is the crux of it, the 4-63 delivers on every level that I require at this time :)

BTW - any way to tell if the neck on a Lakland is a Hugh McFarland neck? There's just something "extra" about the one on the 4-63.

Need to (re)post a pic of the 4-63 to prove this GAS-free nonsense.

I've been GASsing baaaaadly for a specific Fender Custom Shop bass. And I'm typically not a Fender fan at all. Thought in the unlikely event that I would even consider dropping that kind of coin on a bass, it'd be for a Sadowsky but I guess I was wrong. In this context, I'm not sure if it's good or bad that none of my basses are moving.

(Who's looking for an early 4-94? :D)

I know that feeling too. Here's my GAS reducer. It's my only bass. I'd like another bass, but it would prove to be moot as there really isn't anything I need, anything that would prob sound better, or anything that would feel/play better.

Yep. I played my Duck Dunn a couple of weeks ago after it had been sitting a good month collecting dust and I re-remembered why I love it. It sounds especially tasty with some nice flats on it, and the neck is just so comfortable. It makes me think more about selling one of my other basses than buying anything new.

I have been feeling quite similar about my second bass, love the sound, but it doesn't have a comfortable BEM Lakland neck. Every so often I get the notion that perhaps I should put it up for sale, but I also don't feel like taking a bath again :roflmao:
