Older brother to my #11. Mine is teal-burst with no quilt maple top. I replaced the bridge humbucker with one from later in the '90s after determining that the original p'up had a weak coil.

Love that bass!!

I found a deal on a used one. My serial# indicates it's originally from 2013, so it actually must be a relatively early one off the production line.

I'm going to flip my Spector Euro 5LX (love the tone; thought I'd eventually get used to the narrow string spacing, but I guess 19mm is my comfort zone). After yesterday's 3rd round of demos, I'd narrowed it down to the 55-02 & a MM Sterling 5HH. The Lakland (for me) has a wider variety of tones, and even though the MM has wider spacing than the Spector, it's still less than 19mm. Having previously owned a 44-02 (twice), I'm familiar with the LH3 preamp & pickups. The MM Sterling is a beast, so perhaps a 4 string is in my future - but that's for another thread!

Only minor problem w/ the Lakland is the input jack needs to be replaced. For the last 1/8th inch of travel to properly seat the cable end, it needs to be forcibly pushed in. Dealer said he'd do the swap, no problem. So even if I do get it, which seems likely, it won't be coming home w/ me today.

hmmm...that sounds weird with the Jack!

Congrats on making a sound decision!

I find the Lakie neck very comfortable and it DOES have a very wide sound variety!

I would say go for it....can you talk them down a few hundo?

The BEM is wicked on these....and I can tell you unequivocally that the bass was hand built by Carl Pedigo...

Gorgeous bass.

Thanks. It took a lot of visualization! I really want a perloid pickguard no matter what color the 94 I'm going to get. But eventually decided that if the body is dark colored, it should have a maple board. If the body is light colored (natural/amber/white/etc.) then it should have a rosewood board. Had the teal burst available when I got my funds ready so I went for it. Put the pickguard on and ohh myyy... what a beaut. Although I just put a double sided tape instead of screwing the already beautiful top.
