This one is screaming for black hardware.I did and decided to keep it a touch more subtle and keep the total price under $4k. Trust me, I spent some time waffling on that one! Although now that I look back at a photo I found on Reverb, maybe I should call Leo back. Damn you!

I just asked Leo to add on the headstock in white; and after combing through LOG and Lakland, seems they still don't offer the black hardware as standard. I think I'm embarrassed to ask Leo to keep changing it! I saw all the threads about getting a Lakland bridge aftermarket as being rather difficult, but the tuners seem easy to come by. May need to think about this more.
I think you will LOVE the matching headstock!

Keep in mind the tuners that don't come from Lakland will not have tapered shafts, but no big deal. Also for the bridge, just contact Jason at Hipshot and let him know you want to powder coat it black - he'll take care of you.
But, I would not hesitate to contact Leo and ask for black hardware, they've done it for me on a couple of US custom orders - why should you have to pay the extra cost after it's complete to swap out the hardware - just a thought

In fact, I have contacted Leo to acquire full sets of black hardware before for other US Laklands that I bought used. Caveat is that if you want to get the bridge in black, you have to surrender your chrome one to Lakland - they don't want "extras" floating around.
Think I'm going to keep the polished hardware for a little sparkle to start. I've got six months to agonize over the decision anyway!

I pulled the trigger on a 44-02 with maple board and cherry sunburst from bass central. Ships Monday!
It will be my teach bass. I've only had 5 for years and hard for beginners to follow me.
I wanted to add something with a maple board to my arsenal that could also be a great slap bass. I love that it can do mm and j tones. Might replace the stock Lakland pickups with some nordstrands. 70s wind nj and mm 4.2.

I don't know if you recall I bought a 55-02 when the shop closed. I couldn't get with the 35" scale; I've parted with all my 35s. (One of my students bought it.)

I thought you did, couldn't remember if it was a 4 or 5... Lol and have no doubt that it wouldn't for you... For the record, the Fodera Standard Classic basses made me rethink several life decisions lately...

My 55 has the original Bart's... Thought about doing nordstrands as it seems like a popular swap. My JO 4 has Aguilar hot j's that I am very happy with... But they are very hot and overdrive the input of an amp in a perfect way for what I use that bass for...
