Whatever happened to just a concert? It takes so long to set everything up and take it down that Halftime is over after a 5-minute song. I'd much rather see a good band play 2-3 songs on a smallish stage than see all kinds of pageantry and gyration. Give me the music!
sound was awful. you have one job as a sound guy. you work on it all year, and that's the best you can get? how much do they pay the sound guys for super bowl? disappointing.

Dropped the modded/rein'd 55-64 body off at my tech's place this weekend. Hopefully he'll have it put back together this week!!
I'm having a hard time figuring out what strings fit my 55-01. I want the strings strung through the body. Right now they are D'Addario 170's .045 .065 .080 .100 .130 and are strung through the body. But I wanted a .105 and .135 for the E and B strings and maybe a .85 for the A string. On my 4 string I really like the .85 and .105 for the A and E strings and I want the extra tension on this new bass also.
So I ordered EXL165-5 - Long Scale 45-135: .045 .065 .085 .105 .135 strings but they don't fit. The bass is currently strung through the body but the new set won't fit, the strings are not long enough. So I guess I needed super long scale and the 170's on the bass must be EXL170-5SL's but I can't find super long scale strings that match the gauges I want.
What strings will fit strung through the body? Any brand, they don't have to be D'addario.

Yes that's correct you need super long D'Addario strings to go through body on 35" scale.
You'll need to buy single strings to get the gauges you want from D'Addario.
Or you can buy any DR strings (long scale OR extra long both work fine).
If you want a 135 B string, you'll need to buy the B string as a single separately.
Fodera makes extra long strings too.

My big issue is which bass to try them on...all of my basses still sounds great and/or have "newer" strings ...considering none of them get regular play ... there is an "unofficial" rotation...mine last longer than most.
