Very nice Mark!!!

How does it sound with the J?

Played my PJ ( white lightnin) today at church with a brand new set of the daddario NYXL strings... Once the mix got set... Oh man! Very nice
Sounds great! Dialing in the J a little adds that definition, a little extra clarity that mixes well with the P pickup.

Like many before me, I just dropped a J Retro into my 55-60. The bass was already modded with Aguilar DCB soapbar pickups which did shine when played passive but they really work nicely with a solid preamp onboard! I like having the extra control within reach and I have previous experience with the J Retro and really dig the character of this unit.

I purchased it direct from East UK, they accept Paypal and support international shipping. The price even with shipping was competitive and the process was way too easy for this gasaholic to resist. I was able to order it exactly as I wanted with chrome plate and black knobs. It took a very reasonable two weeks for delivery including an apparent 5 day hostage scenario in Chicago probably due to USPS customs processing. Absolutely zero complaints! @John East even included a hand written thank you note!

It literally took me 15 minutes to install it from the time I pulled the bass out of the case to the live test which turned into a hour long practice session. Thanks to the solderless connectors. I am not bad at soldering but I don't do it often enough to do it quickly.

I am now pining for a 5 knob East UNI-PRE for my 55-01 and/or my 55-02! Gotta let the bank account recharge a bit.
