Did anyone notice what Bass Club Chicago put on eBay yesterday? USA 44-51 -- with the contoured body. Sonic blue with birds eye maple neck. Ash. 8 pounds. Insanely beautiful and what I've been waiting for. I waited too long. Gone today. That's what I get for dragging out an internal debate of financial responsibility vs. "you only live once."

I saw that one on their site over the weekend--what a beauty! Sorry you didn't snag it. But I see you're getting a new Super Bassman head, so I won't shed too many tears for ya.;)

My 2008 Duck Dunn 44-64 got delivered today. Good timing because I have my 70's Memphis sold tomorrow morning. My first impressions are good. Unplugged it resonates very well. The action is good as is. The plastic is still on the pickguard. It is very red. :) my two Strats and my Tele are also red.

It was delivered to me at work where we have certified scales. I wish it didn't weigh all of 10.37 pounds, but it does. I will have to see how that goes for me.

I won't be able to plug it in until, hopefully, tomorrow. I should be picking up an Ampeg B-100R.

I always had Fender Jazz basses over the years. Recently I had my first Precision and really liked it but got rid of it. This one seems like the perfect compromise. Precision with a Jazz style neck. I have TI flats coming. I will run them through the back like I did on my P. I am hoping this bass feels like home for me.

Well, a full day playing her and I couldn't be more thrilled! Carl did great! I've taken a lot of photos. Maybe I'll post 2 per day until a mod kicks me out!

Yeah, now that I think about it, it is pretty close to that finish. It defintely was different than the pic I showed Carl, but it's stink'in beautiful so I don't really care!

Clips will come....in time. I seem to be having difficulty with not having any lately.

The controls are a passive setup: Vol/Vol/Vol/Tone, pull-up on the neck and bridge volumes for single coil. Carl incorporated a little switch he calls "The producer switch" on the middle volume....which doesn't do anything. (mostly because he really liked the pull-up pots he was using.) This is Apprently great for when you have that perfect tone, but the guy calling the shots "needs a little more of ______"

It doesn't do anything because the chrome toggle switches between neck-most middle pickup single coil, full middle humbucker, and bridge-most middle pickup single coil.
A bajillion and a half sounds!

Is that a USA or skyline? Is that gold hardware or a trick of the light?

Do any of you guys know how the Neo Punch Split Pickup is voiced? I'm looking for a kind of less middy split P pickup....Almost like a scooped mid PUP. I know I can adjust my amp settings but was just wondering.....Some are real Middy some aren't so much...

It is the Skyline. Just the lighting; it has chrome hardware. I just got to plug it in. I found an Ampeg B-100R on Craigslist for $250, which is a good fair price these days. It even had the plastic over the control panel left on. Made in St. Louis, Missouri. I am just amazed at the wonderful tone. It is a nice combination. I am still considering putting in different pickups someday. I want to give these a fair trial before I unlock the doors to the pickup-posse. I don't believe they are as smooth as I'd like, but they might grow on me. My TI's are going on it today. maybe just the ticket.

Oh, and the volume and tone controls mostly work at the bottom 10% or so of the dial on the Lakland. Probably the wrong taper, but I rarely use either, so it may be a non- issue for me.

I'm always surprised the gold/CAR look isn't more common. 10lbs ouch! Do you have flats on it yet? P bass+flats+ampeg is pretty much it for a lot of people.
