Carvin offers a Mahogany body and neck as a standard option for $100. Not sure how the weight would play out but you don't see many 11 lb basses from them. I wonder what the hold up was with the wood?

I owned a Lull bird that was light. Mahogany body, and neck...big body too!
Got the official call to meet Carl at the shop and pick up the bass at 5:30.
"I donno Man, I just don't think I can sell her to you. I love her too much. It's like sell'in one of your own children, y'know?" :-/
"Carl.....After this long, after all this time, this is happening!!!"
".....I Know......"

Just bought my Lakland Skyline 44-64 Candy Apple Red bass and it should be here next week. I'll probably put some TI Flatwounds on it. I sure am hopeful that it is a great bass.
Wow... I haven't even chimed in once in this whole thread?
Anyway, I offered the dude with the SFG more than that when it was posted here and he refused. It a cool bass, but it's not worth what he's asking or what he paid for it. The dude selling the Mai Tai does that all the time, he buys it here cheap and tries to sell it for a bunch on ebay. He is the same guy who got my gold JO back int he day.
I know people are free to do this, but it still kind of bugs me. I've seen quite a few 'sharks' that don't contribute to the TB community other than to poach a deal and then turn and burn.
I remember I took a huge hit on a bass, and it was listed on eBay for twice what the buyer lowballed me - before they had even received the bass...
Huge bummer.
Thank you. From what I've read, I think the Fralins are supposed to be the better of the two (subject to personal taste of course).
The metallic grey sure looks nice under the lights! View attachment 400672
Its a buyers market these days.
Post at a fair price and the low balling is relentless.
It almost makes sense to post it a bit high and work down to a deal.

I spent some time tonight with Spare Parts rehearsing for a few songs I'm playing tomorrow night at church. All I have right now is a MM pup, but that thing sounds pretty dope! I'm still trying to source a soapbar for the neck btw, so if you have one I'm all ears...
The 2008 Duck Dunn that I have coming was purchased on eBay. His ad was for $950 plus $75 shipping. Or best offer. He already had one offer pending. After reading about Lakland and the good way you guys talk about them I made an offer that would have been $750 including shipping. He counteroffered what would have been $825 shipped. I countered with $755 shipped and explained politely that I wasn't trying to be a smart alec; it was simply my budget. The other offer must have been lower because I got an email saying to enjoy my 2008 Lakland 44-64 Duck Dunn. I don't collect basses. I just sold my 2008 Fender American Standard Precision for $650. I thought I'd get by with a lesser bass. Not possible because although I am not a full-time bass player, I do fill in for a local band because their bass player is a paramedic. Anyway to make a long story longer, not all low offers are bad. I know that is not what you guys are talking about though. I just wanted the best bass I could afford.
There is a guy on TB called Jive1. I don't know him, but I like the way he handles himself as a moderator and seems well informed. He is one of many I look up to here on TB. I wanted to see what bass he played so I looked at his profile. Lakland. That is the start of how I got mine coming. Because it really is about Lakland here, right?! I'm pretty excited!
)I love my Duck. Of all the basses that I have, the Duck always makes me smile.
So here was my rig for the morning. #justlovingeverything!
I resemble pretty much every point you describe. But I'm getting help.
If you hadn't shown me the back of the neck, I would have thought that was a US model! That's a killer top on that bass!
I edited your typo too...![]()
I didn't order the P+Chis... user bdgotoh custom ordered that baby. And actually, I really like the LPB...I just have something more...sparkly in mind... details below
http://youtu.be/ByP2pQSbSmE <<this fits well right here...
Decade: Surf Green
HoBo 30: Coral Pink (shankworthy!)
BG w/ Chis: Sparkle Gold (ala this: about 3/4ths the way down the page)
DJ: This one's gonna get a custom job that's a riff off of an Alleva Coppolo that I owned for a little while. The body will be trans white, and the stripe around the edge will be charcoal metallic frost. Unless you guys change my mindMarty hasn't got to my bodies quite yet.
So yeah...you get a 70% on this quizconsidering all the possibilities available in the world of refins I'd say you nailed it.
