Lakland Owners Group #69

Wanted a Jazz neck on a Precision Body and the search led me to a Lakland 44-64 Custom (Duck Dunn) Skyline on Reverb.com. Didn't care for the NeoPunch pup and dropped in a Lawrence P46 and had them give the back of the neck a smooth satin finish. Plays so fast and easy. Looks good. And sounds absolutely awesome and the tone sweep is so versatile. My Fender P is getting jealous in the corner because I can't seem to put this one down. My first Lakland...and I'm sure it's not my last.

Some of you know the history of the middle two a lot better than I, but all are great players. With the exception of the 55-94 which was purchased new a year ago, all others came from the TB classifieds.

Nice! I've played both of those middle two, love'em. Congrats, that's a great collection.

Quite the great collection you have there!

Yes.. Those are very unique basses!

The one with the 3 single coils was made for a very cool cat named Jauqo III -X

He is a very nice guy and a great player! The neck on that one should feel a bit different than the others... He had them do a custom ( thinner ) profile...

That is quite the score...

I really wanted to buy it the last time it was up for sale but was cash strapped...

Enjoy them all!!!

It was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. From what I know, the neck dates to 2009 and the body is pre Hansen. It has the original Bart pre and pups. So somewhere down the line the neck was replaced. I'm going to contact Lakland see if I can get more information. The neck is awesome and it sounds incredible! And it weighs around 8lbs. Definitely a welcome addition to the family!

So I wanted to follow up on this bass. I was curious about it because of the non original neck and the mis-drilled neck hole in the body. After some searching, I've found the body is a 1999 with a 2009 or newer neck on it (serial #7254). I had a conversation with mackb12 who says he bought the bass from Leo Lopez at Lakland in 2010 after the Summer NAMM show and it was Leo's personal bass. Interesting information. If any of you Lakland insiders have anything to add, I'd love to hear about it.

I'm looking to pick up a US Lakeland with a great J bass sound and wondering which model to get. I already have the P bass sound covered by another brand. This would be my 1st Lakeland and I haven't found any to try at local stores. So I'm buying it sight unseen. I'm playing classic rock through GK gear. Considering the 44-60 but open to other suggestions. Thanks
