Still looking for some feedback on the neck feel between the JO5 and DJ5. I am expecting that they will be the same?

Brian at Lakland did some measurements, and the last fret width on both necks is 3", so the JO5 (55-60) spec must be an error.

Doude is probably the best one to answer that, Mr. Five String...I thought I remembered hearing the DJ5 was a touch thinner front to back

I just ordered a brand new Lakland 55-14, which will be my first Lakland. If I order a couple sets of D'Addario Nickel Wound strings for it, will I need the regular long scale or the super long scale, in order to string through the body? I'm wondering if the regular long scale will taper off before reaching the nut, because I've had that happen on a 35" scale bass before when stringing through the body.

I think even the super long D'Addario strings don't make it past the nut, thru body 35". That was my experience.

For string thru body, DR strings (both regular and extra long) are long enough. And also the Lakland branded strings.

Haven't played any of the new ones, but I owned a few back in the day, and the DJ5 definitely felt rounder and "Seemed" skinnier than the flatter, wider feel of the standard neck...

Talk me down from the edge...I'm so sick of the music scene in Houston, that I'm on the verge of selling every piece of gear that I have. I need to just quit playing one nighters for a while and stop looking for a band in this musical desert of a town and keep my Lakies.

Deep breaths, man! Don't do anything rash. If you have a good home practice setup, just play your Lakies along with your favorite music for a while. It'll remind you how good they sound and how much fun playing is.:)

Step away from the edge, take a step or two back and refocus on why you play.

I got 36" scale strings for stringing through the body for my 55-02. It is a perfect fit.
