Lakland Owners Group #69

Those are Fralins. CAR was only done in the first run of 2002. There might be one run in 2003. There are no production number records for early Skyline (I asked before) but they were done in small batches of like 40. There are likely less than 100 CAR and they would be split into rosewood and maple. 2002 and 2003 are the absolute best Skylines. Congrats!
Thanks !!! So I put some ornaments on her what do y’all think? She is a 2002. Thanks for the info!

I got the Lakin bass in. Not able to get it all hooked up but man this neck is exactly like a USA Lakland. I am blown away. The neck is the one thing that kept the Skyline from being as good as the USA version. This bass nails it.
Kind of a long shot, but did you ask Bass Central? They were the exclusive US dealer/distributor for awhile...

OK . . .just a quick follow up (I know it's been a week or so) re: strings for my 44-64 P/J. I started from scratch with a set of Chromes (chosen at random b/c they were laying around) and after watching the video below, did a set up. It was in desperate need of a setup, which I didnt realize until I actually took the time to check it. After a truss rod adjustment and adjusting the saddle heights, it's sounding really good - exactly what I was hoping for. I guess the moral of the story is before going crazy changing strings and EQ'ing amps, do a setup with the strings that are on it first :). I'm pretty psyched now. The Chromes sound good - not as thumpy as the LaBella's or Precision Flats, but enough of a flatwound vibe for me. I'm going to leave them on there before I change to something else (and setup to those strings!) and see how they age. Thanks all for the inputs and replies. I appreciate it.

This is a really helpful video.

That video is a true gem!

Carl is such a master!

Ha- I just dropped a bass off with Carl on Friday, and we were talking about these videos. It makes a WORLD of difference when a bass is set up right...

He's been after me to come down and visit.... I've been so slammed.....

He actually needs to do some work on a bass he built for me years ago... He finally figured out how to " fix" the issues... Although it's really not an issue....

Hey gang! Im thinking about a used Decade. Ive done some reading on the basics of the model and I dig it. Any advice, tips, comments, or concerns you can offer?

At the moment, I only see the LBP one on reverb. Thoughts on that one?
