Hey guys. I just bought the new Lakland Skyline 55-60 from Sweetwater. This is my first lakland bass and I'm super excited. I just had one question. Are the 55-60's from Sweetwater a one off due to the Indian Laurel fretboard? I have never heard of Lakland using these fretboards. Has anyone played a 55-60? What should I expect? Thanks!

I picked up one as well. 434 bucks off the price! Looking forward to it as well, this will be my first Lakland.

Yeah I've been doing a little research. Even the the Skyline J-Sonic now has a Laurel fretboard.

I agree it was a great price. How much does yours weigh? I got the 10 lbs one. It was the last one that they had. Now I've seen that they have 2 demo models of the 55-60 and quite a few demos of the 44-60. I wonder if they kept all of them in the store and just listed the ones that they wanted to sell at $849? The demo 55-60s are $1155!!!

Playing a Shoreline in the Ochanomizu area... This place is a must visit if you are in the Tokyo area.... Many many instrument shops!

Some very interesting locally made basses and guitars along with standard brands

Out the door price on the shoreline was just over $2900....

There were also several US Lakies and Japanese skylines in the shop

I think mine rings in at 10lbs 13oz which is on the heavier side but falls in line with my other 5 strings as far as weight.
