I don't have his skill at photography, or a color matched bass. But, Markus' pic inspired me to take one, a while back.

Well, my 55-02 just arrived...
And it's a fretted maple fingerboard, NOT the fretless I ordered in Febuary!

Such a shame. It'll have to go back.
It's after business hours here in Germany, so I can't phone the retailer. I do have one hope though - the delivery invoice clearly lists a Lakland fretless 55-02 Honeyburst, so it might be that they did at least order a fretless 55-02 as part of a bigger order and have just sent me the wrong one. In that case, the bass I want (and have paid for!) is in Frankfurt rather than in Chicago.
We shall see.

Has anyone replaced the bartolini preamp with an aguilar obp3 preamp on the 5502? If so, what were the results, and was it worth the hassle by making the sound THAT much better?
