Well, that went fairly unexpectedly. I've been on a business trip all week and after reaching a resolution to the "error in shipping" on Tuesday, I didn't hear from the seller again. I was really busy and the listing indicated that I was supposed to receive the bass by 1/22 so I knew eBay wouldn't do much if anything, prior to that date. So I chose patience and peace, even though the listing indicated it hadn't been shipped yet. Well imagine my surprise when I get home around midnight last night to find a big ol' box on the porch! Beautifully packed, sent via 2-day shipping! As it's about 10 degrees outside, I quickly brought it in to let it warm up overnight before I opening it up this morning to test, clean, re-string, and setup.

And here she is; 2005 MIK Tobacco Burst 55-02 with maple board and Bartolini preamp and pickups.

It plays very nice although I reserve effusive praise until I put her through the paces a bit. The neck is very comfortable and the bart electronics impart a bit more midrange and bite than the LH3 system in my main player but that's exactly why I wanted to get it; tonal variety. Plus the price, even after adjustments, was too good to pass up.

Just waiting on a pair of string locks and she'll be seeing a lot of playing time to get used to the nuances.

Yes. She was my maiden voyage into Lakland territory and paved the way for several others.

Yeah. Agreed. It's slowly revealing itself to me as I'm getting to know her. I've been tweaking the preamp settings (output gain and mid frequency) now that I was able to track down the dip switch settings (thanks TB search!). The good news is, seller indicated the scratch plate was, well, REALLY scratched up. Turns out, it still had the protective plastic on it. Peeled that off and it looks perfect.

Chi-Sonic Singles! Just different housing than normal.

I asked Lakland if they had the Chi-Sonic covers in black rather than chrome and they didn't, but these plain black covers ended up being an option. I dig how it turned out. I still think the Chi-Sonic covers would look cool in black, but I like these too.

Thanks Tom! I only wear ties for gigs and funerals LOL. I’m fortunate that I can dress casual to work. And Chuck Taylor Converses have been my gigging shoes for years! Hard on the feet but look great! I remember when Chucks were the required shoe for school basketball... that’s how old I am! That was middle school back in ‘81 through ‘84.

Is that an ultra portable MG800 head in a huge 6-8 empty rack?!

The amp is a GB Streamliner 900. I drilled a rack shelf, measured for and bought some longer screws, and anchored the amp to the shelf via the amp feet holes.

And, more than a few musicians have enquired about the empty space in my SKB case. Most think I’m off in the head until I show them how my pedalboard fits perfectly in there, below the amp. And the extra space around the amp (beside, behind, and above) is where I stuff two leather straps and 2 heavy duty speakons. Btw, my pedalboard is visible is one of the pics.
