Lakland Owners Group #69

You would know!

Not sure who owned more T40s... You or JJ!!!
A common misconception my friend. I've only owned 2 T-40's (one with dark stars) and a T-45 and I'm currently down to one T-40 that only gets used for recording and short gigs.

I just happen to have spent quite a bit of time learning and collating information about them, as my sig will attest.

Glad to hear it. Good on you guys for doing that.

The mini-GTG was canceled due to dropouts and generally low interest, but I'll start planning the big April GTG soon.

Lakland 44-94 Deluxe Bass Natural #1051

Someone please buy this so I don’t. It’s not the finishes I want at all, but quite a looker for $2800 brand new...
Well you jerks didn’t buy it and I couldn’t help myself. Hopefully one of the Chicago guys here will be so kind as to put me up on their couch for a few days when the warden throws me out!

Well I’ve finally found the “magic” Lakland for me. I’ve had about 6 now. Some were great some not so much for me. I’ve finally landed a magical unicorn for me. It’s an ‘01 Willie Weeks Proto that is superb in every way. Lightweight, resonant, even tone, stellar neck. It’s been a joy to track with on my last couple of sessions. She’s a gem.

I’m lucky enough to be blessed with a Deluxe 55-94
I have the schematic for changing the internal controls on the the inside cavity but no matter what I do I can’t get the passive and active volume to get close to the same volume.

I have no problem with my Nordy or my Sadowsky Metros...

Any insight?

Which preamp is it- bart on LH3?

I played one song with my new Decade last night. It's a slower tune, with a long guitar/vocal intro, so I quickly plugged in and hoped for the best. The good news was that it looked great. Seems a bit lighter than the SB-2 I was playing prior. I tried dialing back the bridge pickup and turning the tone down a bit as well, with full on the neck p/u. I found that made it hard for me to hear. I kept fiddling with it and though it played fine, I'll put it through its paces at practice this week.

I really wanted an opportunity to play it, but didn't want to take too many chances. Here's a video of the song, light on footage of yours truly, but I promise I'm there.

I come in at 1:17 after talking and the guitar intro.

Turn the amp up so you can hear what the bass is doing. Never ever (nevuh evuhh) be drowned out by vocals and guitar when your playing a Lakland. ;-)
