I'm in a very weird place right now as I won an eBay auction over the weekend for a nice MIK Skyline that is cross-listed on Reverb for quite a bit more than I ended up paying. I've yet to hear from the seller via eBay and it has yet to be shipped (it's the weekend, I get it) but I'm concerned that the Reverb listing is still active. I've been conditioned over the years that a good deal on the 'Bay usually ends with a "seller error" of some sort along with a refund so I'm not yet holding my breath.
Regardless, I DO think I'm going to need an intervention as this would be #5 in a relatively short period of time. Aside from the Laklands, I'm down to a single Fender which is hard for even me to believe. Send help!

I usually use both pickups on full or less frequently roll one or the other back just a hair. It's true that neck only can be woofy with the result being a little indistinct in the mix. I like the sound of it but it usually requires some EQ adjustment to stand out so I rarely use it on the fly. Plus, if you are coming from using an SB-2 most of the time, your ears may be in shock at the change in tone

Truer words have never been spoken. On that song I linked, via my SB-2, I usually roll the bridge pickup way back and play at the base of the neck. With the Decade, I'll have to figure it out as I think with neck pickup only, it might be too boomy.
But I'm excited to try it out full band on some of our heavier and louder tunes. I feel like the Dec will have a full-throated growl that the SB-2 might not have... Plus, I gotta figure out right-hand placement. My hand naturally gravitates to the front of the bridge pickup, but I feel like that might be too far back on the Dec. May have to try floating thumb.
Ok. Contact made and shenanigans have commenced to kill the deal. I’m being told the shipping fees are wrong and he’s not sure how that happened. Interestingly, eBay shipping fees are higher than the shipping fees posted on Reverb so he must have gotten them wrong in both places. It’s coming in a hard case so we’re negotiating right now to attempt to resolve.

Hadn't checked in on the Lakland Owners Group site in quite a while and am sorry to see that it's no more. Wondering why it went away. Glad the discussions are continuing her on TB.
Hate you're going through that. I believe the seller regret falls into the "not my problem" category as the buyer. I sold a piece of gear for a dollar one time with free shipping because it was an auction and the buyer didn't even bother to leave me positive feedback after I shipped it!

I’ve often fashioned a skinny thumbrest out of maple, and dbl-side taped it where my thumb needs to be. It’s a good solution when the bridge pickup is not where you’re used to it being.
That's strange. The last two basses I sold were listed on both sites. I sold one on each and the listing on the other site was somehow linked since the active auctions were closed within minutes. BTW Reverb has excellent support they even refunded me in full themselves for two basses with trashed necks where the seller refused to communicate, after the fact.
Question to my Lakland historians- why are there not many 55-63s? Was it a custom offer based off a 55-94/14 platform or just not popular bass option.

True, but it was in the body shape of the 55-94 and Active. That is why I like it so much. I see it kind of rebranded with the 55-AJs.
I think you said that you owned the Green "Jade" 55-63. Is that the one you owned twice.

Well, that went fairly unexpectedly. I've been on a business trip all week and after reaching a resolution to the "error in shipping" on Tuesday, I didn't hear from the seller again. I was really busy and the listing indicated that I was supposed to receive the bass by 1/22 so I knew eBay wouldn't do much if anything, prior to that date. So I chose patience and peace, even though the listing indicated it hadn't been shipped yet. Well imagine my surprise when I get home around midnight last night to find a big ol' box on the porch! Beautifully packed, sent via 2-day shipping! As it's about 10 degrees outside, I quickly brought it in to let it warm up overnight before I opening it up this morning to test, clean, re-string, and setup.
And here she is; 2005 MIK Tobacco Burst 55-02 with maple board and Bartolini preamp and pickups.
It plays very nice although I reserve effusive praise until I put her through the paces a bit. The neck is very comfortable and the bart electronics impart a bit more midrange and bite than the LH3 system in my main player but that's exactly why I wanted to get it; tonal variety. Plus the price, even after adjustments, was too good to pass up.
Here are the pair:
Just waiting on a pair of string locks and she'll be seeing a lot of playing time to get used to the nuances.

What a beautiful surprise, literally and figuratively.
Yeah. Agreed. It's slowly revealing itself to me as I'm getting to know her. I've been tweaking the preamp settings (output gain and mid frequency) now that I was able to track down the dip switch settings (thanks TB search!). The good news is, seller indicated the scratch plate was, well, REALLY scratched up. Turns out, it still had the protective plastic on it. Peeled that off and it looks perfect.
